Poor draft pick. Picked a player with a history of injuries. I don't get it. Why bother ???

I thought I read somewhere that being on PUP means you have to be out the first six games of the season...

Is that true?

Didn't see on DallasCowboys.com that they are projecting him to make a comeback any time soon...

The earliest a player can return from the PUP is week 7; however, it could be as late in the season as week 14.

I doubt if he returns this season. Draft picks really need training camp and preseason games to get up to speed in the NFL. This is especially true of OLinemen. A DLineman, could come in and just get a few plays here and there with no pressure; however, an OLineman has to be ready to start and play and entire game.

I disagree he was a bad pick... We have a definite need for a right tackle... The plan all along was probably to groom him to be the future right tackle... he has the pedigree to fill that role...

Yes, he was not a bad pick based on the criteria that they had at the time of the pick. They thought he was a guy that could play as a rookie which is not easy to find in the 3rd round. Yes, he has some past injuries, but you have to make some trade-offs as you get lower in the draft.

If he pushes to start at RT next year, then he will have been a terrific pick.

Especially before a guy even plays

The tricky thing is that we won't know what we have until the end of next year. He probably won't win the starting RT spot right away ... not after being red shirted this year. Next year will be his rookie year ... if he can stay healthy.

So basically, we're losing 2 years from him.

I think a solid RB in the 3rd would be preferable to what we have and an injured swing Tackle.

We drafted our board and a swing tackle was a higher priority than RB who wasn't better than what we have. It's just that simple.

No, a player on IR is ahead of where that player would be as a rookie. He gets to attend all meetings while on IR and will be in an NFL off-season program.

If he was good enough to be the backup swing OT if healthy as a rookie, then he could easily be good enough to start in his 2nd year.
