Available FAs vs. who we signed

Looking at a list of who is still available, I almost think I would have been more satisfied if we signed some of them than who we got. (Obviously, their asking prices could be higher, which is why they are still available.)

Going to leave off a few that probably aren't signed for injury reasons, such as Stefon Diggs, but here's who I would have taken instead of who we got

RB Nick Chubb instead of Javonte Williams (Both averaged under 4 yards per carry, but Chubb was in his first year back from an ACL tear and then broke his foot, which isn't a dealbreaker injury; prior to that, he had averaged over 5 yards per carry every year; Williams has averaged under 4 yards per carry each of the past two years)

RB J.K. Dobbins over Miles Sanders (I have no idea why Dobbins hasn't been signed by anyone yet unless he's asking for a lot of money; he averaged 4.6 YPC last year and rushed for 905 yards in 13 games.)

WR Tyler Boyd instead of Parris Campbell (Boyd has had a much better career with two 1,000-yard seasons and No. 2 receiver numbers in most years, but not last year)

OL Brandon Scherff instead of OL Rob Jones (Scherff's been in the game a long time, but at age 33, he's still better than Jones has ever been)

DE Za'Darius Smith instead of DE Payton Turner (Smith had 9 sacks last year compared to two for Turner and is solid against the run)

DE Matthew Judon over DE Dante Fowler (This one is definitely debatable since Fowler had more sacks last year than Judon, but Judon is the better overall player)

DT Calais Campbell over DT Solomon Thomas (This one was a little tougher since Campbell is 38, but he still started all 17 games last year and put up 52 tackles and 5 sacks, compared to 26 tackles and 3.5 sacks playing in 16 games for Thomas)

LB Kyzir White instead of LB Kenneth Murray (White's career has been more productive and he's proven himself already as a player.)

LB E.J. Speed over Jack Sanborn (I have to wonder if Eberflus doesn't care for his former linebacker Speed or just likes his most recent one Sanborn better; but it's probably just a price thing.)

CB Stephon Gilmore over CB Kairr Elam (I don't mind the Elam trade, but he may never be as good as Gilmore is now even at 34; could go with Rasul Douglas instead to go a little younger)

So my FA class: WR Tyler Boyd, RB Nick Chubb, RB J.K. Dobbins, OL Brandon Scherff, DE Za'Darius Smith, DE Matthew Judon, DT Calais Campbell, LB Kyzir White, LB E.J. Speed, CB Stephon Gilmore

Again it's noted that many of these probably would not accept Dallas' honest offer, but they are still out of work, so who knows? I'm also not saying these would have been my top FA choices overall just my picks from what's left.

I do think it is fair to say that Dallas chose multiple free agents who were younger and have more upside, but the Cowboys were able to get them for cheap because they haven't
Your FA class LOL good thing I trust the coaching staff and the scouts over you it's not always just about money but hey if you want those guys pick them all put them on your fantasy team and let me know how last place feels lol

I do get what you're saying you don't have to read my whole thing but I'm telling you there's good reason besides money that this coaching staff thought they might be better picks for their scheme...

The irony of this post one is you're picking names that you believe the fans would love more but why are they all still available??/

every single one of them wasn't just picked over who the Cowboys picked ,they were left there by every team...

I mean I don't get why you guys don't understand why they're leftover maybe the Cowboys coaching staff understands better on who they rather have for their scheme??????

you're allowing names to cloud your judgment, I bet you would have loved Samuels or Kupp and everybody really thought Amari Cooper would be a better addition or some of you irritated that Gallup went to Washington... none of them had good years last year, they're all in the downward decline, they're all coming off injuries, the Cowboys chose to pass on a lot of these guys wasn't just the money it was money versus recent production and age!!
Maybe they don't feel like they would hold up...

That's what drives me nuts you all think adding names that make you feel better makes the team improve that's not true until we see it on the field there's a big reason why all teams left them out there so far... You get the irony in that right you're complaining the Cowboys didn't pick them over anyone else and yet they're still there..

There's a reason a lot of their teams let them go even the guys who were picked up that you would rather have had are not playing well recently and were making too much money.

there's no way I wanted Brandin Cooks back here for the money he got.... He definitely has a better name than the ones we picked up, he also has a better name then who's on our team, but he didn't have a good year last year and if you add the two years combined and look at Tolbert having the better year more recently why would you pay a guy $8,000,000 because he has a better name?

A lot of this is slowed down by all teams there's hardly been any signings this week to speak of not many at all it was hot and heavy at first now they're going to go to the draft they're building their board and then they will probably get some people off that leftover list should they be feel they need it..

this doesn't add up to they were too expensive Fowler had a better I don't know say last 2 years, go check Judon and you're right it's debatable,

the FO picked the guy who had better stats the past 2 years , who actually has played well here in Dallas he wanted to come back to Dallas on a reasonable price that can end up being as much with incentives as most of the other top defensive ends got he's willing to prove he's worth the money when you're older that's what you should do..JUDON used to be better in 2021 peaked and been average of late.. Color literally had a better season last year than Judons last two seasons combined...

he can't be the better player just because you remember it that way doesn't mean he is.. 2021 what was the last time Samuels was any good as well his peak year his year he got all the money and now he hasn't done much the last two seasons what does that tell you stop focusing on names and the talent that used to be at their peak are no longer at their peak...

Many times, they're still out there because there are coaches that watched film and think that maybe they're getting close to the edge of the Cliff or to become washed it can happen at any moment with any of these guys.

I definitely think there is some merit to what you have posted. I think there are a few you could argue one way or the other and I do feel a lot of it is $$$ related. In every case except maybe one or two the guys you picked are definitely going to cost more than the guys we signed.

This is their typical way as you say...picking up cheap bodies to fill holes so in theory they can draft the best player available with each pick. Unfortunately it always seems like they dont really follow their plan once it actually gets to the draft. We always seem to throw in a couple picks from out of the blue.

Ultimately, I don't see anything that we have done to suggest this is a better team than it was last year. And if it isn't, it is just another year wasted. I would much rather have a coach come in and completely tear down the whole thing and build it up. It's what we did with Jimmy Johnson and we honestly have never done it again. Even Parcells tried to forgo the teardown....if he hadn't, I think we would have had great success with him.

I'm not sure we'll ever see that again because the Joneses essentially would have to admit that their way doesn't work.

They r saving $$ for bland and smith. Expect 20m to be rolled over and maybe an extension for bland soon. But can he cover elite receiver's? I haven't seen it so would the right move be to draft a few corners now. One in top 3 another at 5 build up carson get diggs back and b ready when bland is let go-then pickup a 4 in a comp pick back? Maybe so. We cant keep paying players 20m that arent elite vs elite players like steele and hopefully not osa!
