Yes it's a brand new season. But again the exact same issues. The offense now starts with the worst starting field position in the nfl after 4 weeks. With their average starting field position beginning at the 23 yard line. Yes you read that correctly the 23 yard line. Which is 2 yards shorter than the 25 yard line that you get for free on touchbacks.

Lack of takeaways and poor defense that even when making the opposing team punt which only happens 50% of the time. It's typically after a couple first downs and the opposing team pinning us deep.

I 100% expect this defense to get an entire overhaul of players in the next offseason along with a new group of depth guys that can play special teams.

I wouldn't hold my breath. With the lower cap, they are going to have to get creative just to keep the core of their team together. It's going to be tough to overhaul the defense in an offseason where they aren't going to have much cap space to do anything noteworthy.

And this doesn't even begin to address the reality that a potential overhaul would likely revolve around Nolan having input, which would be ridiculously idiotic.

Barring Nolan getting crap canned and a new DC coming in and making changes, I expect this D to suck for 2-3 seasons, at least.

Yeah I may be in the minority but I'm for a aggressive approach to special teams. Flaws and all.

But what's happening is that you have aa bad defense and a bad special teams and that's double trouble.

You are essentially asking your offense to play flawless turnover free football while your special teams and defense clearly aren't. Its why you are 1-3.

Maybe they need to dial it back some until this defense gets better because this offense is already having to do all the work...now you're essentially making things harder for your offense that already needs to be flawless.

I think that's the biggest takeaway for me is how will this unit even get better?

I guess there's some hope that when LVE, Sean Lee and Chido get back it should improve. And it may but this unit is going to give up points. Its going to give up yards. There is absolutely nothing to be excited about or look forward to on this defense unless you are a fan of history and record breaking.

The cap is not going to lower lol. If they get a long term deal done with Dak it will give them some cap breathing room. Nolan should have input. I give a coach 3 years getting his guys for his system.

I read yesterday that in 4 games, the Cowboys have started only 2 possessions in their opponents end of the field. In the last 3 games, Dak has engineered a whopping 7 TD drives of 80 yards or more! Let that sink in.

The cap is likely going to be lower. They've already set the floor because they know revenues are going to be down - I mean teams are playing to empty stadiums. There's like a 1% chance the cap will be the same or higher than it was this year. Projections are that instead of the expected cap around $210 million for 2021, it's likely going to be around $175-185 million.

And Nolan is a bad DC. He shouldn't get 3 years. But I suspect he will, which is why I think the team will be crappy on defense for a few years.

If this defense doesn't improve this year, they should cut bait and fire him right after the season. He was a poor hire.

And a long term deal with Dak doesn't give them breathing room. It will add to the 2021 cap because he's currently not even on the 2021 cap.

I'm pretty sure it's only 1 possession and that was the chido int against the rams.

Pretty impressive for a "bus driver", eh? ;)

The cap is not going to lower. The teams are making money through ad revenue with companies putting tarps over the seats.

3 of those were over 90!

And does anyone know how our kicker is doing as far as league wise. I know he has missed a EP and had one blocked and missed a 53 yarder.

Strange that we are in the bottom of the league again this year.
