Awkward Situation: Will Wes Phillips remain on the coaching staff?

I'm surprised Wade hasn't requested an interview.

Isn't Wes an offensive assistant?

Wade is just a DC now and Wes is an offensive coach. It looks like Garrett is keeping him otherwise he would probably have to go back to the college ranks.

Why? Is this another example of a head coach's relative being unfairly viewed because of their bloodlines? If Wes Phillips keeps his job, I would think he can feel assured by the fact that both Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones are just that more confident in his coaching abilities. If he loses his job, would the reasons behind his being released be that much different than it happening anywhere else?

He'll stay. He likes working with Jason Garrett and is respected.

Garrett commented on this after Wade was let go. He likes him. His duties actually grew after Wade's termination.

I seem to remember Garrett describing him as someone he trusted on the staff. Seems like he will probably stay. It would be pretty petty to fire him just because of who his dad was.

Best career move for Wes is staying. you earn a ton of respect for working with (and being trusted) by the guy who replaced your dad. You want to be an assistant coach and you'll have to deal with worse situations

Joe Buck was talking about this during one of our games.. Something like Jason thought it might be awkward but Wes made it very easy. In which I got the impression from this he might be a lot like his dad, a very likable person.

No reason to get rid of him. Nor do I think Wade would want him to leave on his account either. After all, not many resume builders out there like the Dallas Cowboys and Wade still knows this even if his own stance on us/Jerry has soured.

He needs to run down to the courthouse and legally change his surname to "Garrett."
