I'm not the biggest fan of Chris Johnson's, but when you compare him to the guy we did sign? He looks like Eric Dickerson! And in terms of reliability? He looks like Jim Brown!

Which is why 31 teams, including the two he played for, didn't want anything to do with him.

Like McFragile? Who would still be out there if not for the Jones crush?

We can talk about the careers of both players if you'd like to continue looking bad. Just let me know.

McFragile didn't cost a thing to look. CJ did.

Randle is better than both of them combined.

How does that make any sense? Explain.

The Cowboys are committed only to the $200K signing bonus on McFadden right now. Arizona paid twice that much, and this late in preseason. Plus, he's hurt now, so it'll take an injury settlement to cut him.

I like McFadden's attitude, and it was worth a peak. I don't like Johnson's attitude, and I didn't want a guy like that leading this rushing attack. (I have similar reservations about Randle, but he's already here under contract.)

There might be another guy added in the end anyway.

Oakland Raiders.

They actually made Charles Woodson look like a bust until he escaped to Green Bay.

Yeah, so the career underachiever gets a 'Free Pass' for each and every one of his shortcomings.

Maybe from some people who let what they want override what actually happened.

Conflicting reports on any guarantees for Chris Johnson and the Cards.

If he's not able to stay healthy, I couldn't care less about any perceived attitude. Can't help the club in the tub.

There might be another guy added in the end anyway.

I'll feel better of there is.

Let's list the great seasons had by Raiders over the past 10 years. Hmmm, can't think of any.

Stash, it doesn't hurt to look at him. He'll get a long look this weekend, and if he stinks, he's gone. There'll be others shortly, via trade or release.

You KNOW they're on top of this. They're thinking this through a lot harder than we are.

And for some people, that absolves McFadden of his entire disappointing career. But not for me and not for the vast majority of people who pay attention to the NFL.

And then what? What if this team counts on him and he pulls his usual routine of missing several games during the season? Then they're stuck. Everyone worth anything will already have a job.

You KNOW they're on top of this. They're thinking this through a lot harder than we are.

Hopefully. But I think if you keep McFadden and a specialty back in Dunbar that can never be a primary ball carrier, you're almost forced to carry 4 running backs just to cover yourself.

We've already seen just how quickly this depth can go to zero.

OK, fine. There are backs like Chris Johnson dripping off trees. He's a nobody nowdays.

At least McFadden is an excellent pass protector on 3rd and long.

Again, anything negative someone wants to say about a player like Johnson who has actually accomplished a lot and been available a lot in his career, only makes McFadden's failures more glaring.

If Johnson is a "nobody", McFadden is a "never was".

And if McFadden is the 3rd down guy, there's little need for a specialty back like Dunbar.

Alright, here's the thinking, Stash.

Randle is the guy. He's far better than both Johnson and McFadden right now. He's 60 percent of the carries.

Dunbar comes in on 3rd and 5 or less. Some other packages, too. About 10 percent of the carries.

McFadden comes in for a series or two to spell Randle. And MORE IMPORTANTLY, on 3rd and long, McFadden is the best option to help protect Romo and occasionally catch a swing pass, which he's good at.

That's the thinking. It's not about McFadden-vs-Johnson, it's about Randle-vs-Johnson.

You're spending a lot of time on a running back that NOBODY wanted. McFadden is just a curiosity with a potential role, not a major impact guy.

If that's the case, I would send Dunbar packing and sign an actual running back who could run the ball if anything happens to Randle.

So are you. Outside of Dallas, the NFL had zero interest in McFadden. If he hadn't signed here, he likely would be out of the league.

Johnson has actually accomplished a great deal in the NFL and had a successful career.

You mean we aren't necessarily going to live or die by DMC? The Cowboys are thinking about our RB situation and maybe, just maybe, have a plan? I scoff at such nonsense. I've been told for months and months we are ignoring that position and clearly don't have a plan which is going to cost us #6. Besides, I've already drafted Romo in all 4 of my FF leagues because I moved him to the top QB position based on us going to a full blown passing attack this year.
