Maybe the market will convince you that Webb is a better option than Sterling Moore. Moore waiting right now for the phone to ring as he has been for the past 11 weeks. B.W. Webb would be picked up immediately if cut right now. GMs know it takes time and you have to be patient and you need to have one eye on the future.

So I guess Nick Hayden and George Selvie stink because they were street free agents and we picked them up, right?

How do you know the vet corner would be getting beat like Webb? That's purely a hypothetical scenario.

Regardless of Webb's progression or regression, the Cowboys will need a CB next year because Mo cannot be depended on to contribute.

How do you know a vet CB wouldn't be getting beat like Webb? And how do you know we can't depend on Mo next year? Welcome to the world of being a GM. Where all your decisions are graded on hindsight. Tough decisions all around. And if the GM cuts Webb now and he develops into a Brandon Carr two years from now, the GM looks like an idiot.

I disagree he was looking right at Eli and that is why he was moving from the WO back to the line of scrimmage. I think Webb is raw but there was no way he wins in that situation, he took steps back towards eli and no a safety was not breaking towards eli my dead grandmother would have walked that in to the endzone.

You may want to watch it again. You are right, he does see Eli, but he doesn't make an attempt to go towards him, he takes a bad angle to get between an Eli pass and the receiver though (who he lost). Eli has no shot at running it in though (not accounting for piss poor tackling). Heath has a line on him and is at the 2 when Eli is still at the 6, and both are at equal distance to the sideline. If Heath does a decent job, Eli shouldn't get past the 4.

Totally different situation. Hayden and Selvie were desperation picks with nothing to lose. They were replacing players on IR and we didn't have to cut a player with potential to add them.

We got lucky with those two players. I doubt you want to make a habit of picking up street free agents to find starters.:)

There's only one way to find out.

And how do you know we can't depend on Mo next year?

What I do know is that he cannot stay healthy if his life depended on it.

I don't see how anyone can have confidence in Claiborne right now on the field AND durability wise.

When did I say I wanted to cut Webb?

"And Webb showing potential? When has he showed potential? Heck, when has he made a single play? You'll never convince me that Webb is a better option than a guy like Sterling Moore right now."

Perhaps somewhere in that not so glowing report especially the part I bolded, I gathered you didn't think much of BW Webb.:) I don't know why someone would keep a player who hasn't showed any potential 11 weeks into the season.

Anyway, you have to cut someone to make room for Moore unless you are doing something like putting Mo or LB Holloman on IR. The only other ones to possibly cut in my estimation would probably be TE Smith, RB Tanner, or S McCray.

I'm neutral with B.W. Webb, but he's shown me absolutely nothing in terms of potential and when you have a head coach who is clearly on the hot seat, I want players who aren't a serious liability when they're on the field. Everytime Webb is on the field, I cringe because I know teams are watching film and attacking him. I could see Andre Smith getting cut because he's been absolutely useless on special terms and offense.

I don't need to watch it again he was in the back corner with the WR eli came out of the pocket and would have walked in with ease there was no one to pick him up. You see it different fine

Okay, now I'm just spooked.

The Cowboys have signed Sterling Moore and cut Andre Smith...

What did i tell you? and that is why i started this thread. this is a good move in my opinion. Webb is a down the line player. he is no where near ready to play right now.Moore won't be great.. but right now he is a better option than Webb. and looks like the Cowboys agreed with me.

Where did I disagree with you? I felt the same way.

I know. i am not talking about you. but some on here wanted no part of bringing someone in off the street. my point was Webb may work out fine down the line. but right now he was not ready.and we can not miss a chance at the playoffs because Mo can't stay on the field, and teams are going after Webb. Cowboys knew they had to do something.

Just saying...I'd take Heath in a foot race over Eli every time. And Webb when the ball is released is still at the back of the end zone, not jumping up to stop Eli (watching Eli is how he lost site of his man though).

Yes and heath has just slipped and had eli taken off he gets to the endzone

Sometimes it seems/looks like Webb is totally unaware of what's happening. Like if he just got thrown out there off the street 2minutes before. I do think Nnamdi would play better than Webb, but I don't think it's worth the $$ at this point (if we could even afford him). Sometimes a guy is rejuvinated when he goes somewhere else. Maybe SF just wasn't for him the way it wasn't for Brandon Jacobs.

Rookie from a very small program who probably should not be playing, I would not be surprised. That phrase that "the spotlight is not to bright for him", well at this point, it obviously is. He's a developmental guy and has a chance to get better.
