We need another DB period. If Wilcox or Church go down we'll be in worse trouble. Webb is still developing an the game is moving too fast for him right now.

Webb got lucky with a couple of overthrown balls that might have gone for big, big, yardage. Seeing Webb and Heath down-field together is an unsettling image.

Not really...he has one INT, and that was last year in Philly.

Again, has Webb accomplished more? Plus, if our D is going to play more man coverage then he may be a good fit. Anytime Webb is on the field, he's a liability.

And what are you basing that off of? What has Webb EVER done in his short career?
I I do not want to cut Webb. i am just saying he is not ready right now and could cost this team this year. he may turn out to be a very good player in the years to come.. i am just saying get a vet that at least knows what he is doing. i would even take Sterling Moore back for these last few games. if Mo could stay on the field, i would not be posting this. but he just can not stay on it.

Lol - yes very! Per an earlier post I was very surprised when Sterling Moore was cut in preseason. I thought he gave us experienced depth. Similarly, I didn't get the Will Allen cut. Is he the answer for us at safety? No but he gave us some experience back there and we've gone with worse options in the recent past - such as Elam. I am all for developing younger players, etc., but not at the expense of the team's overall ability to compete. If a player or set of players become such a liability that you can't even scheme to protect them, that is basically demoralizing. I don't see these guys getting competent enough in their roles to bring any sort of stability to the secondary prior to the season's end. And I don't think a vet signing is in the cards unless we have another injury that makes it an absolute necessity. Better break out the pepto bismol cuz I don't think that unsettled feeling is going away any time soon!?!

I was falling in and out of sleep watching the Broncos-Pats last night. IIRC, some DB for the Broncos got hurt and the backup came in and got immediately torched by Brady and abused the rest of the night. Not sure. Who were the two Chief DBs who had double coverage and still got beat by some Charger WR I never heard of at the end of the game? The Chiefs lost Tamba Hali and Houston to injury during the game and the team looked a shell of its former self. That vaunted Chief defense looked very pedestrian after that. No teams have starters at depth these days. Coordinators and coaches earn their money minimizing and maximizing the impact when players are forced into the game due to injuries.

If you are looking at some 4th rd rookie from a small school like Webb and placing blame, then the other 10 players out there aren't doing their jobs. We all knew going in to the season that whatever Webb brings to the table THIS year is gravy. No way you were going to stash Webb on the practice squad at the beginning of the season or put him there now. He would be picked up by another team in a heartbeat. He has to be on the roster and it is because he shows potential. Unfotunately, Claiborne can't stay healthy and it forces Webb out there.

Sterling Moore? 11 Weeks into the season and he is still available. What does that tell you?

Mick, is that you? :D

And Webb showing potential? When has he showed potential? Heck, when has he made a single play? You'll never convince me that Webb is a better option than a guy like Sterling Moore right now.

Cruz was more towards the middle right of Eli and as the defender took a step towards eli I thought that was were eli would go since Cruz is a main weapon that Eli loves to go to. However the easy throw was once Webb was forced to move towards the line with Eli out in the open moving towards goal line. Webb just could not win on that play.

I don't think Webb knew Eli was scrambling or reacted towards the line at all. He just couldn't cover long enough because of the scramble. Pretty sure he wasn't looking in Eli's direction at all. A safety was breaking off towards eli and would have stopped him well short had he chosen to run.

I disagree he was looking right at Eli and that is why he was moving from the WO back to the line of scrimmage. I think Webb is raw but there was no way he wins in that situation, he took steps back towards eli and no a safety was not breaking towards eli my dead grandmother would have walked that in to the endzone.

And if Webb wasn't a 4th round pick, he would have been one of the first roster cuts.

And if Webb wasn't drafted this year, we'd have some vet like Sterling Moore getting beat. And if Webb wasn't drafted, we'd have no young talent to try to develop and we would have to draft another CB high in the 2014 draft.

You have to give players time to develop. Some do, some don't. Some take longer than others. There is no science to it. No crystal ball either.

Time will tell on Webb.

By the way, there are times when I've seen worse CB play from others in the league than Webb.

Maybe the market will convince you that Webb is a better option than Sterling Moore. Moore waiting right now for the phone to ring as he has been for the past 11 weeks. B.W. Webb would be picked up immediately if cut right now. GMs know it takes time and you have to be patient and you need to have one eye on the future.

Some also comes down to special teams. Backup have to play special teams and webb has done a good job at special teams. So when the choice comes down this guy or that guy on a final cut something like Special team can be the factor.

How do you know the vet corner would be getting beat like Webb? That's purely a hypothetical scenario.

Regardless of Webb's progression or regression, the Cowboys will need a CB next year because Mo cannot be depended on to contribute.
