Drink the kool-ade, believe the hype....I'm guilty this year. Pre-season losses are good for me personally as it brings me back to earth. As far as one of my faults is I'm always saying "you can't put that guy on the practice squad, he won't survive the cut and he'll be grabbed. " But in reality no one wants these players. And if 14 of the 15 guys you cut make it to the practice squad that's pretty good.

I think our FO gets the talent data from watching our players practice. Everybody looks great in practice. We fool ourselves and let substandard players "linger" with hopes that they will develop. GM Jerry is too soft and always wants to be "one of the guys" . There is no fear like in the Parcells era.

Preseason wins/losses shouldn't bring anyone up/down. Few starters and no specific game plan for the opponent by either team.

The first two real games - on the road against Brady and Herbert - should be good indicators as to the state of this new defense.

The preseason losses bring you back down to earth , lololool

I really thought that we would be in great hands w Ben D at Qb...until preseason started
Maybe play him with the 1st team line instead of the trash he's forced to play behind now...that the only true way of judging him...how good would dak look in the same situation?..we all saw what it was like with just smith out.

Oh I’m a vet in this game. Never buy what the Cowboys sell. Buy what they do.

It is impossible to judge how this team will play in the regular season from these preseason games where so many starters are not playing at all. For me, these games are about evaluating the young talent and not much more.

And temper expectations. It is not how they play now, it is about they players they can be in the future. Do they play hard? do they play fast? Do they seem to have a clue what they are doing? How do they look against guys with NFL experience in real game situations? The process isn't perfect, but it 's something.

Exactly. . what else could you even expect. . .

Very well said.

It's about the positive/negatives concerning individual players. And that's it.

I really really wonder why some fans watch preseason. How in hades does anyone not realize it's a scrimmage? I mean, it's so obvious.

To expound, there really is no winning/losing in preseason. The score is absolutely meaningless.

Pssssssssssstt......PS consists of 6 players.

Are they playing the regular season games on Earth? Damn, I was hoping for some moon ball and increasing that YPL, Yards Per Leap.

There is nothing to take away from pretend games except injury status to starters.

I said I would not get caught up in any hype for good or bad this year until the season starts and I see it on the field.
Now and then I will get up on a player or the team, as well as down. Mostly up, as that is just the way I am. However, still need to see it for real when it is time.

I do like what I am seeing from all the new players on defense as well as what Quinn is trying to do.
But I will still keep a tempered enthusiasm. Or will try to do so.

Of those 16 players, six could be veterans with an unlimited number of accrued pro seasons under their belts.

The NFL has opted to keep the 2020 practice squad rules in effect once again. So, once again there will be 16 players allowed on practice squads with the following players being eligible for the units:

  • Players who do not have an accrued season of NFL experience (rookies)
  • Players who were on the active list for fewer than nine regular-season games during their only accrued season(s)
  • Up to four players per team who have earned no more than two accrued seasons (no game limitationss
  • Additionally, teams are allowed to promote two players from their practice squad to create a 55-man roster on game days. These call-ups can occur as late as 90 minutes before the game — when the official inactives list is posted. After the game, the player reverts back to the practice squad.

Practice squad players cannot sign a contract with another team's practice squad. If they sign elsewhere, they must receive a promotion to the 53-man roster of the team that signed them.

I think that's a great idea. They should keep it at that number.

Pre season wins and loses don't mean squat
