He wants to win first and foremost. He hired Payton because he was a great offensive mind in ffootball. He got rid of Verducci because he was terrible.

2) they didnt call Norv Turner...they didnt call Al Saunders (and stood by twiddling thumbs as he went to our biggest rival)...now today, the guy they apparently DID want gets on a plane and signs a deal with the New Orleans Saints...I'm doubting very seriously that cheapo owner Tom Benson made Palmer an offer (ie, $$$) he couldnt refuse......

From what I read Norv didn't want to leave the California Bay area, because his son is about to graduate high school. I can't see Norv working for Parcells anyway.

I believe Sparano will be coaching LBs next year, I remember reading something to that effect.

I wasn't very excited about Palmer. Let NO have him. I am disappointed that nothing has been done about OC yet, but the Superbowl hasn't been played either. I've got to believe Jerry and Purcells have some sort of plan.

I agree with most of what you said though.

In the end, Haley will probably end up the OC. That is what scares me. That and Drew Bledsoe.

10 - Guy is probably still in rehab. Who knows.
9 - If they draft a LB in the first or second round, I will be shocked.
8 - Player for player trades are rare unless Snyder is involved and I expect both of these guys to be elsewhere also.
7 - No comment.
6 - Basically started from scratch. This team is a better team than any of the past few despite record.
5 - K and a legit NT are definitely pressing needs. You can find a good kicker in the AFL though.
4 - Seriously couldnt have said it better.
3 - I wouldnt say the worst, I would say unproven, which means the ball is in their court.
2 - Now this is terrible. Did Parcells not expect Payton to take the job or was he simply not interested in the others ?

3) as a continuation of that, while I am sure this will be an unpopular opinion with most, its apparent to me that Parcells just doesnt want really GOOD coaches on this staff...I am absolutely convinced he wants a mediocre staff, so in the case that we do win he can stroke his obviously out of control ego even more and say "SEE!!! I can win with anybody, I dont need guys like Belechick, Weis, Crennel, Erhardt, Groh etc etc"...Sporano was a bad OL coach, and now he might be the offensive coordinator? there were 8 or 9 openings this yr, yet only one team interviewed Zimmer (and reportedly were VERY underwhelmed, to the point that they didnt even bother to call him back)...nobody else wanted this guy, and this doesnt count the openings in college football either...even the coordinator of a team (Niners) with the worst offense in football the past two years got a head coaching job ahead of Zimmer...David Lee??? Paul Pasqulaoni?? Kacy Rodgers??? Todd Haley?? Mike Macintyre?...we had undoubtedly the best coaching staff in the league from the early to mid 90's, now we've done a complete 180 and have the worst staff in football...most of the guys on this staff wouldnt (and wont once the HC here is gone) get jobs in the NFL anywhere else

I could not agree more!!! We would be better off in the long run if BP had slid into the sunset this year. For the life of me I cannot understand why so many people blindly except everthing he does. If Bill was going to be here for the long haul then maybe I could accept some of this but he has 1 or 2 more years.

well everyone has their opinions...I didnt say we were not improved, I said I couldnt believe this wasnt a playoff team

losing Adams was a critical injury, Henry was playing very good football when he got hurt but was ably replaced by A Glenn, the pass defense didnt tank though from losing Henry so I dont consider that a "critical" injury either...I didnt consider the loss of Nguyen to be a "critical" injury because he really wasnt a fit for this scheme anyway...Al Singleton is what he is, an average LB who does nothing bad but does almost nothing good either, so I hardly think thats a "critical" loss

when fans fall back on "well we almost won" or "we were competitive", its a sad reflection on where this franchise really is IMO...being "competitive" in a mediocre (or "parity" ridden) league is not saying much, especially when you see teams almost annually now go from 4-12 to contenders

while the defense gave up fewer pts, it really didnt improve much (if any) in a number of other areas despite having a number of very significant upgrades...we still couldnt rush the passer, we still didnt stop the run and we still had a penchant for blowing 4th qtr leads...while our kickers stunk, the kicker wasnt on the field when we lost to the Commanders or Seahawks, and the kicker had nothing to do with nearly blowing wins vs the Giants or Chiefs

FS was a big hole that needs to be filled- but the ONLY big one on D. Compare that to last year. and as much as people want to bark at the kicker, remember we did get a win ourself because of another team missing a fairly easy fg

in regards to the offense...we were good vs San Diego, bad vs Washington, good vs SF, mediocre vs the Giants and good vs Philly...that was before the injuries...ie, we were still pretty inconsistent...people scream left and right about somebody missing a fg vs Wash, but the fact that people ignore is that the defense had a 13-0 lead with 4mins or so to go, and gave up two terrible tds....THEN our "improved" offense only needed to gain a couple of first downs for a potential game winning field goal after that td, but we didnt get a single first down vs the Commanders defense (after we got the ball around mid field) and lost...vs Seattle we had a couple of shots to score tds to put the game away but didnt (int and a fumble recover deep in their territory), then with a 10-3 against a team with none of its top 3 wr's we allowed them to go uncontested down the field 84 yds for a tying td

good defense dont let teams convert stuff like 4th and 15's and 3rd and 27's, especially when games are on the line...good defenses dont let teams go the length of the field to win or tie games late in the 4th qtr...the Giants tied a game they had no business being in when the defense gave up 50+ yds and a td in two plays...the "improved" defense let KC gain nearly 500 yds, then with the game on the line allowed said team to basically go the length of the field in 22 seconds

so you (and a few others) can cry till your blue in the face about how a kicker making 3 fg's would have us 12-4, but the teams track record shows they probably would have blown the lead anyway

like I said...we all have opinions...I'm just going by what I see on the field and what we have all seen since Parcells took over here (ie, no improvement over a course of any of the 3 seasons) and a defense that hs 6yrs of the same old same old going for it

I hope I'm wrong and we win it all next yr...somehow I think we'll all be having these exact same discussions next yr however
