Umm yes but bpa with Priority at RB, WR, DT, and Pass rusher. So BPA in all positions outside of OL, QB and DBs unless someone generational and dynamic maybe a safety is there etc
Yup.

Need RB1, RG1, and RT1. DLaw, Rico, and Rush leaving too. UFA.

Dallas knows what they have in TJBass and Lance.

Steele will be Post June cut. He’s due mega base $ next season.

TG not working at LT1. Dallas has to be quietly concerned.

the knock on TG was the lack of All Conf awards in NCAA. not vetted.

off season work for TG is a must.

Hoffman is RFA. Some team will easily out bid us.

I absolutely love the film Richards has put out this year. It really sucks that he got hurt, but he's also the guy that I would not hesitate on letting him compete for a starting role in 2025. I wouldn't be upset at all if they had a real competition in camp between Richards, Steele, and Guyton and just played the best two regardless of who is making how much money.

I'm still not sold on Bass/Hoffman yet, even though Hoffman had a fantastic game this past Thursday. Gotta keep in mind that he is a RFA this year too. I would assume unless he looks dominant the rest of the year the Cowboys just put a right of first refusal tender on him which wouldn't hurt his market all that much. Good chance the Cowboys would have to fully commit to him as a starter as theyll likely be forced to pay him at least lower end starting money.

Has to be Bass, no?

Is it just me or does it seem as if the OL is playing better with Martin out?

The best five for next year (been posted already by another) is…

Smith-Bass-Beebe-Hoffman-Guyton

Richards as the swing. I doubt they move on from Steele though, which leaves Smith inside and Guyton at LT.
Me wonder if Steele would have to give the club another dreadful season under (assuming) the new OL coach and new scheme for them to
be convinced to finally move on from him.

- It's still about investing in a highly paid QB protector, ..and Steele is not worth a separated shoulder whiff block on our franchise QB .
I'd strongly prefer to have a talented upcomer already developing to replace Steele if he proves very capable.

Dunno if that's Asim Richards or another guy in the upcoming draft at some point.
With a high ankle sprain that will either keep him out remaining season or limited him physically, we won't really know
what Asim could be beyond a mere serviceable backup.

Steele will be a Cowboy next year. His contracts an albatross. I would roll with what we have next year unless some college UDFA surprises in camp.

The draft really needs to address RB and defense.

Why not? They played last year & played well. They have played well this year.

Every time (at least that I remember) they have been in the lineup, the offense has been better.

I have always liked Richards. I have no issue with all those guys competing for starting roles.

I'm not saying they are garbage, but I think if you really want to upgrade the OL you probably need to look for a RG that isnt on the roster right now, unless you're going to play around with the idea of moving a T inside. Both guys I really don't love their tape from a year ago, this year does show some progress for each player though.

Hoffman had some very nice tape on Thanksgiving, but I need to see a bigger sample size before I commit to him as a starter for 2025. You do have to commit to him too as he is a free agent after this season and should have multiple suitors to command at least low end starting OL money. That's my biggest hesitation there.

TJ Bass's tape to me looks like a high end backup player. He looked really good against lesser competition in Washington. Some will disagree with me, but I don't think he played very well against better interior DLs in Pittsburgh and Detroit...especially in pass protection. As a run player I think he has made significant strides, and I'm impressed with his ability to move laterally. I think that was the big knock on him coming out of college was how he would translate to the NFL as an athlete. In pass protection he seems to struggle to identify stunts, blitzes and also really struggles to recover if a defender gets hand placement on him.

I wont say I've thrown in the towel on either player yet, and I really hope the Cowboys give them as many snaps as possible the rest of the way so we can get an extended look before the offseason. I think there are so many factors working against these guys though. They seem to be making solid strides under this current coaching staff, but odds are we have a completely new offensive coaches for 2025 which can be the worst thing for younger developmental guys making progress who now have to learn a new system. You also have what are already major question marks at both Tackle spots in 2025 so its possible a new staff will push for a known asset on the interior. I hate to say this as it could easily turn this thread into something it was never meant for but I think Dak struggles with the OL presnap. I dont think Rush is better than Dak in many areas at all, but the one I do is that Rush does a much better job of getting the offense into the right play and alignment presnap which I think has had a positive impact on the OL and run game as a whole the last few weeks.

To me Richards is the guy who has really left me impressed all around this year, but to be fair he also has the smallest amount of tape of those three to break down as well. Overall I think this team needs to look for a known commodity in free agency this year to add to the OL unless Hoffman or Bass really end the season strong.

I like this combo from L to R: Richards, Smith, Beebe, Bass, Guyton (he needs to be MUCH BETTER next season)

Just thinking out loud now, but I wonder if Bass could play center at all? His skillset seems like it would play well there, and he blocks at the 2nd level a lot better than Beebe does. I think Beebe actually profiles a lot better at Guard and this late in the season still doesnt seem to be super consistent snapping the ball. I would love to bump Beebe out to G and not have him worry about the snaps so he can just fire off the ball.

Thanks for your input. You are a good poster so I certainly value your input.

One question I have asked is could Steel move inside. He's a very good run blocker. Granted, kicking inside would be different but I'm not sure he couldn't do it. What do you think?

I believe they gave him practice reps at OC the last couple years. Kind of like they did with Conner Williams, and he wound up playing at a Pro Bowl level for Miami. I think Bass at OC is very much a path they could take if they wanted

At this point I would just move on. Too expensive and even if he could, he probably isnt better than Bass or Hoffman

It’s an interesting thought. I’d assume he would be fine moving inside but it’s anyone’s guess until we see it. It does seem to align better with his strengths and certain he wouldn’t have to worry about those outside speed rushes that he gets beat on often.

Isn't there some dead money if we just cut him though? I was trying to get some value.

Honestly, I like players like Steele. Guys who have worked their way up. I think he would give it his all if you told him that he needed to make a change and it would be less overall change to your personnel.

Hoffman and Bass.

The real kicker is that Hoffman and Beebe might be interchangeable. I think Hoffman's nastiness is a better fit at C.

IMO next year has to be: Smith - Bass - Hoffman - Beebe - Guyton

UNLESS they are able to draft a ready-on-day-one LT, (?Kelvin Banks (Texas))

I can’t believe they won’t move on from Steele…dude has been an absolute liability this year.

This team is just freaking nails when it comes to finding and developing OLmen. Early round studs, mid round starters (CWill, McGivern, and Biadasz), UDFAs that can play, they just don't miss often.

I think Richards is the most promising of the bunch, but Bass is no chopped liver either.
