Backup QB problem

If the Rams cut Bryce Perkins he should be given a look.

Part of the issue is that Dallas could not bring in someone like Mitch Trubisky, who signed a 1-year $2M deal with Buffalo to be a back-up, because he might be 'too good' for a back-up position with Dallas having just given Dak an extension so now Dallas finds themselves in the position they are in: a starting QB coming off a season ending ankle injury and a recent shoulder injury with no qualified back-up.

No need to cause a controversy if you don't have to right?

It isnt the qb's it is the coaches, and kellen and his play designs, and play calling.
For example the only play that was good went for a td, and is good to use with a qb with little game experience.
The td play where rush looked left, then threw screen pass to right, that was good play design.

The rest was his generic long pass routes, and then the int of denucci was a pass out to the sideline close to los,
that is a horrible play for a bkup qb, that is hard even for a starter who has been playing for years.
It was a weak bad pass by dinucci, but no way he should be throwing that type of pass.

If these guys had plays designed FOR THEM they would look a lot better. All qb's are different, you cant just plug them
into a generic and I think flawed offense.

So the problem is the coaches, not the qb's.

too funny with certain posters and their agenda's. The Moore agenda fans I find the funniest.

What are you going to say when we have the #1 offense in football? Or even top 5 in football scoring 30 points per game. You going to still be blaming Moore? Only thing Moore is liable for is giving the ball to Zeke too much when he should be running Pollard more.

Did you get a chance to watch Pollard hit the hole and show off his abilities yesterday? No way Zeke Makes those plays.

But I freely admit that no offense can be successful with Williams at Center. He simply cant manage the position.

You graduated from Memphis? Friend of Pollard are ya? Just a Zeke hater?

They should start looking into what contracts to restructure and inquiring about Nick Foles. Hoping for the Bears to release him may not be the most prudent move. Trade a conditional late round pick, move some money around and make a deal for Foles.

When was the last time the Cowboys had a decent backup since Jon Kitna? Not counting Dalton of course. The fact is, most teams don't have a good backup. If the team is a contender the backup usually doesn't play as bad because of the support around him.

Spot on.

there was one play where the rb gets caught behind the line and conner was on the ground, and another lineman was downfield.

this is a lazy argument.

this organization has thousands of fans who say things like this. The Dallas Cowboys have all the money in the world, they had cap space and they had a ton of draft picks this past year. They should have used both of those assets to turn over every rock possible to make sure they don’t lose another season to a quarterback injury. They lost the 2015 and 2020 seasons due to this and should do everything possible to make sure it never happens again.

here is the reality, they view it as a non issue because they expect Dak to play 17 + games this year. They know or at least I think they know Gilbert and dinucci have no chance to win a game let alone multiple games for them. They just ride it out hoping everything will turn up Roses because that is always their strategy.

Think of it this way, Cooper rush left and they didn’t seem has even good enough to be the third quarterback here, he went to New York to play for the guy that drafted him that everyone says is one of the worst coaches ever. NY cut rush and he was resigned in Dallas. Why. Well because Dak likes him and likes him in the qb room for meetings and studying etc. this is the same reason kellen Moore is the offensive coordinator, because Dak likes him and didn’t want to learn a new offense.

anyway. This front office had plenty of resources and time to make sure no matter what they are ok if the starting qb was still hurt or gets hurt during the season. They did nothing. Sting but who would you sign is nonsense. They could have worked a trade or spent some money on a veteran like trubisky.

the philosophy here is I know this guy just punched me in the face three times so I won’t put my hands up and protect myself this fourth time because man he wouldn’t do it again.
So you think trubisky would do good in kellen's offense? He would be no better than Dalton, and only a little improvement
over the bk-ups we have. He could not win games here.
And if you put him in with the OL and wr rush and dinucci and GG have had to play with , he would look as bad as them.

The problem is the coaches here. Dak is good enough to make them look like decent coaches but they are not.
In fact last year even dak could not make them look good and was 1-3 and was one play from 0-4.

And let me add ST play was awful in this last game, and when jimmy was here he valued
ST play, and it was part of his game plan to win 2 of 3 parts, off , def, and ST play.
And his ST's did win games, returns, blocked punts, onside kicks.
Dallas just blows off ST play, and tries to win with just offense, and hold on with def lol.

So you have a crystal ball that says Trubisky would not play well in Dallas yet Dak can play here? Okay.

I think it’s an easier situation for Jethro to deal with the seasons over if Dak goes down than for a Legit backup who could bring a QB controversy after just shelling out 160 million.

Nothing else makes since unless they actually believe we can win some games with these numb nuts off the bench. We could come up with enough cap space for a couple million dollar backup.

Neither. I can just see the obvious. Pollard has what Zeke doesnt. Speed and big play ability. Its a big missing element to the run game.
I agree. Pollard is a great compliment . He does have speed and big plays ability. We should be using both.

We need more from Elliott like he provided us in 2016 and 2018 leading the league in rushing. It not only controlled time of possession but masked our defenses weaknesses leaving them off the field.

I don’t think it’s a mere coincidence both of those years were most effective for our team in Dak era.

Josh Rosen. He has to have some kind of talent.

I have to agree to at least give Mr Rosen a look. To be sure he realizes he is now on the outside looking in because, according to the rumors, his attitude is akin to the squirts.

At some point he should realize his multi-million dollar payday ain't gonna happen unless he learns to play ball.

IMHO Mr Rosen does have talent.

Go Cowboys!
