Wish we would open up the pocketbook a bit more for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Garrett/Linehan seem to love smart guys. Fitzpatrick is an Ivy League guy that can play. He's probably good enough to QB this team better than 500 if Dak goes down so if Dak misses a few games..I would trust him way more than our current options.

if Dak goes down, nobody thinks Jerry has a red phone with a line that stretches miles and miles to another red phone that happens to be sitting in Tony Romo's living room?

I only believe it if Romo's CBS contract allows it and he won't lose his job.

No way Romo comes out of retirement to fill in for a few games just to be relegated back to the bench if Dak goes down. It would have to be a significant injury where Romo can reclaim the team for the remakneder of the season.

Dak misses 4-6 weeks which is a more plausible injury scenario? Moore is your guy.

It's a credible thought, imo.

Linehan loves Kellen Moore.
That makes one of us. Go back and re watch the Commander game 2015. Noodle armed turn over machine with feet of lead.

It was reported by someone at some point that week when he made the announcement that Romo's CBS contract does not have any language that would prevent him from returning.

Of course there is no clause preventing Romo from returning. It will ne a possibility for the next two seasons, that is understood.

Romo wouldn't hesitate to ditch his TV gig if the right circumstances unfolded, which would be the starting QB for a contender is out for the majority of the season.

As long as Romo and the team continues to win and head into the playoffs, Dak or another starter would be given sufficient time to "fully heal".

The question is, what other teams night he consider? Suppose Aaron Rodgers or Cam Newton or Joe Flaco suffers a season ending injury in week 1 or 2 ". Would those teams be willing to consider the "Romo Option"?

Did the Cowboys cut Romo? Is he still technically assigned to the Cowboys? Could the Cowboys benefit in a trade?

Yes, plasticman, he was released by the Cowboys the same morning that it was announced that he was opting to work for CBS as I recall.

They came pretty close to signing QB Austin Davis last year, I wonder if they still have any interest?

Our QB depth is atrocious.

Most teams, if they lose their QB for the season, its over. To me, QB depth means the back up could come in and win a game or 2 whike your starter is out short term. I don't think we even have a guy who could win a single game. Its not good at all.
Correct. Only for the draft position.

The back-up quarterback for this team will be calling pro football games and staying in shape until needed. You may have heard of him, and it isn't Aikman. One might even suspect Jerry has the guy working out every week with a trainer on the down low.

If this truly comes to pass, Jones may be an evil genius. Secure the integrity of the starting quarterback for the team. If he goes down, then bring back the hero that fell on his sword for the team in the off-season.

David Moore wrote today that we were poised to take Brad Kaaya in 7th, but DET beat us to him. Are we comfortable with Kellen Moore and a street free agent Cooper Rush? Or maybe Osweiler and Sanchez get cut now and become cheap vet options. It's the only position now that I feel less than confident about.
I head we wanted Kaaya too.
I don't really think that all would've affected Moore though....this year.
They want a developmental guy.
Recall that hey had planned on Moore backing up Romo last year. Dak'a much lower injury risk, so Id think it the same plan with Moore this year.

Did you see Sanchez play against the Eagles last year. I want no part of him.

33/48 | 435 yards | 3 TD | 2 INT | 68.8% comp | 100.6 rating

probably not the best game to make your point.

I honestly couldn't care any less about the backup QB. It's always some big worry yet every teams backup sucks unless it's their QB of the future.

True you hope to build a team who can help the backup QB and not a situation where you expect the QB to carry the team.

Kellen Moore had 435 yards passing and three touchdowns after throwing an interception and losing a fumble on a snap to help dig a quick 21-0 hole for the Cowboys (4-12).

Nope. Perfect game to make my point. Average Commander team where he kept turning the ball over and couldnt avoid the rush. A lot of selective memories around here. Guy is not an NFL QB.
