Backup QB?

Cooper Rush >>> Super Bowl Champion QB

That’s what this come down to for fans who want Rush.

It’s a silly comparison and shouldn’t even be a debate but if McCarthy and the front office are comfortable with Rush, then I guess it’s a moot point.

Yes, the only ones Rush needs approval from is the coaching staff. It make no difference what people here think.

Of course, but that's so obvious there's no reason to say it. Nothing we think here makes a difference at all, so going by that there's no reason to post, right?

Sign: Flacco
Cut: Rush
Practice Squad: DiNucci

QB backup situation set for years

i gotta see DiNucci play firs before considering any practice squad.

He maybe more mature and savvy beyond his years, and just flash impressive moments where he exceeds expectations.

Give him camp, pre-season, and carry a clip board as he develops and becomes more accustomed in the system.
if he's Mike White 2.0 .. yes perhaps the practice squad type.
but if he impresses, he's not gonna get cut and exposed to waivers to make it to a practice squad.

i think Andy Dalton is more idea as a backup than Joe Flacco.
Dunno what has become of flacco since that SB run - hes slow, gets into too many struggle moments and easy to sack.

DAL may well add a vet well into the season if Dak is dinged or misses games but given he has yet to miss any they want to give him as many reps as possible in this updated offense I doubt a vet is added before the season starts.

In ways that is why I would want a vet backup. A raw backup needs reps a vet backup is not going to need as much time to get himself ready.

Dak’s durability and the fact that he hasn’t missed a start in his four seasons hasn’t made backup QB a pressing need. We really won’t know for sure what we have in Cooper Rush until Dak does get injured and Rush has to take over. He hasn’t looked particularly great the last two summers but until he has to play in a meaningful game the Cowboys will likely continue to develop him along with the other young QBs we’ve brought in. If he proves he can’t get it done in a pinch that’s when I would expect the Cowboys to look for a veteran.

Having a great starting QB didn't stop Green Bay from using a first round pick an another QB.

The Cowboys have consistently under-invested draft capital in the position.
The team also undervalues the backup QB spot, often keeping only 2 QB's on the roster.

Would have clinched for Dallas but that game didn't decide the division. Week 17 did, you're the one rewriting history trying to say week 16 was a playoff game...... that's false.

Also what do you not understand by the team quit on Garrett. Compare the first philly game to week 16 game, look at the Rams game then watch the Jets game. The entire team wasn't trying, they quit on Garrett. So, if you keep saying stupid stuff about Dak I will continue to say silly Dak Garrett clowns cause that's what you fools are. Don't like it, then don't reply. I stop commenting on people post that I know what changed their mind on Dak but when they reply to what I say I'm going to respond.

Other than your thoughts on Dak I enjoy reading what you have to say on most things.

Agree that Garrett was crap, but as for Dak, I just cant agree about paying him elite money.

The shame of it all is now that we have MM and a great draft behind us we still dont have a starting QB signed. We need to get this finalized either way and move forward

Sometimes you just want a vet there if at all possible. I could see crappy ol' Fitzmagic pulling out some games.
That's a good one.
Would have loved Winston, but he wouldn't have signed here.

Flacco's anybody?

Actually I love the thought of flipping a late rounder for Rosen.

Rosen is a great idea!

Wonder how high a pick it would take to get him?

He is a classic example of a young QB drafted very high, and expected to be an immediate savior for a bad team.
I believe his story would be far different if he had been drafted by a better team, and perhaps given some time to develop.
Smart player with a good arm.

Is there a bigger drop off in the league from starter to back up than in Dallas? Cooper Rush is absolutely terrible and incapable of winning in the NFL.

I agree but it is well documented that he is a jerk and largely disliked by teammates.

It’s pretty clear that the team is “all in” this year and are going to make a hard run at the SB based on all their offseason moves.

Any ideas on what to do at backup QB though? I know Dak has been pretty healthy but if he goes down, who’s taking us to win the title? I really doubt Rush and Denucci (sp) are the answers. I’d rather have a veteran presence back there but I don’t see any FAs either (Newton wants to start.) I sure hope McClay and company have a plan..

How is this clear? What free agent signing says lets win now? What are these off season moves that tell you we want to win our division in 2020?

No that's the whole idea of this website. It's just some come across like they're opinions are either read by some executive in the front office and that they will then be part of the actual decision making process or they think that if enough people agree with their opinions that somehow they will have some impact of the Cowboys.
.

We have ok QBs for a game or two during the regular season. Let's say Dak gets a concussion. We don't have a Nick Foles or Bernie Cosar to come in and save the day.

Really, who are those guys you speak of?
