Bad Team Names

I imagine Butte is pronounced "Bewt"

Could be wrong, but that sounds more likely than "Butt"

I would hate to play TE at that school.

Even if you were considered to have soft hands , fluid hips and an uncanny ability to locate the Q.B,s balls ?

I challenge anyone who doesn't think the word Commanders is offensive to come to Arizona and let me take you to an Indian Reservation where I want you to walk up to a group of locals and call them that name.

If you wouldn't do it, you are a hypocrite.

I long believed that the league should force the Redsk*ns to change their name.

Then Danny Snyder can do what he really wants and name the team after himself:

The Mighty Dwarfs!

And I'll point out that it's ridiculous to be upset over it and think it's racist.
Your opinion holds no more weight than anyone else's. The word Commanders is a derogatory term. Native Americans are the only group of humans with sports teams named after them. Lions, Tigers, Bears and Native Americans. No Italians, Asians, Africans, Latinos, etc. Teams are named after wild animals, concepts and Native Americans. If you don't see the cruelty in that, it's because you don't want to see it. That's fine. Just don't tell others how to feel or that it's riduculous to be upset over an issue that is important to a lot of people.

The Scots, the Irish, the Vikings, the Highlanders, the Celtics. Team names.

If you don't know the difference between Commanders and those other names, there's no point in even discussing it with you.

The fighting Irish is derogatory once you actually look into it.

ETA: Hoosier.

It can easily be traced back to a derogative pejorative term.

I grew up in Idaho and I can honestly say that I played with the Butte Pirates.

I'm not sure I would have volunteered that information! :D

Bewt. Sorry.

They were in a smaller class so I didn't play ball against them, just Track and Field at the big invites.

Funny thing is that we were the Tigers and I grew up rooting for the Jazz and the Cougars, so I was all over this list.
