Bad Team Names

I found a list of high school mascots that are comical. They're listed by state. Here are my favorites with my comments in paranthesis:

Florida
Apopka - Blue Darters
Key West - Conchs
Lakeland - Dreadnaughts
Laurel Hill - Hoboes

If you think that's funny, get this. There's a girl's high school in my town named Regina, only you don't pronounce it the traditional way. Let's just say that it rhymes with a female body part. Their opponents have lots of fun with that one.

If y'all wanna talk about controversial/comical HS names, look up the "South High Rebels". Our mascot was a confederate soldier.

They've been trying to change it to the "Shields" for years because people complain the rebel/confederate soldier was racist.

Not trying to defend my team's name with history and original intentions. Nothing but hypocracy on my part; regardless I doubt anyone but Commander fans really care where the original name comes from or coach William Dietz.

They were in a smaller class so I didn't play ball against them, just Track and Field at the big invites.

Funny thing is that we were the Tigers and I grew up rooting for the Jazz and the Cougars, so I was all over this list.

So, is it fair to say that you ran away from the Butte Pirates? Did you ever take a baton from the Butte Pirates?

Any list with comical Texas HS mascots is incomplete without New Braunfels in there... The Unicorns.

I heard their football uniforms were pink and purple, with rainbows and glitter on the helmets. Their mascot is My Little Pony.
