Let’s say the Cowboys are trading up - so for those of you who don’t want to trade up , too bad. They’re already on the clock at pick 6, let’s say.

Would you prefer the Cowboys drafted Bailey or Downs here?

This one I am a bit torn on. Looking to see what you guys think about this

Downs. Let’s get the best player in the draft.

In that situation Bailey easily. I like Downs a lot, but there's an outside chance he falls to 12. There's zero chance with Bailey. I just don't like it though. There will be a really good player on the board at #12 if Dallas is just patient. Maybe Styles, maybe Bain, maybe Delane, and any of them improve this team without giving up capital. It's so rare to have two first round picks...I want to use both of them.

If we are picking at 12?

Downs is my #1 player but Bailey is fairly close so I would lean positional value and take the Edge.

Bailey we need edge pressure. We need pieces at all defensive positions however

Eh,
It seems counterproductive to spend the entire offseason focusing on improving the run defense and then move up for a player who's not only poor vs the run but hasn't shown any interest in improving and has been resistant to coaching to do so!

I wouldn't move up for a safety either.
I'd rather let the draft fall and even reach a little than overdraft someone in the top 10 who would normally go mid teens to 20s

Interesting take on Bailey bc everything I have read in regards to his run defense is the exact opposite of what you just said.

Don't know what you've been reading.
Three different scouts mentioned poor run defense just in the Mcginn report.
Everything I've read mentioned he played poorly vs the run!

:hammer:
Exactly. They need to use both 1st round picks. No player at 6 is going to put the defense over the top, or even in the middle. But 2 in the first round or a slight trade down. Get 4 in the first 3 rounds.

That helps so much more than one player.

Not trading up

But Bailey over Downs

Folks, these players (Reece, Bailey, Styles, Downs) are not going to be there at #12

We have had HOF pass rush before and where has it gotten us?
DEWare and Parsons. What championships did we win?
we need a real play making Safety more than we need pass rush

Positional value is for bean counters

If you do not have at least VERY GOOD safety play, you will not win a Championship
Teams have won them without great pass rush

Bailey....and I don't think it's even close. Take the pass rusher that can take over a game.
