Bailey or Downs?

In that situation Bailey easily. I like Downs a lot, but there's an outside chance he falls to 12. There's zero chance with Bailey. I just don't like it though. There will be a really good player on the board at #12 if Dallas is just patient. Maybe Styles, maybe Bain, maybe Delane, and any of them improve this team without giving up capital. It's so rare to have two first round picks...I want to use both of them.
If McCoy clears the medical with our team then I agree. A good player will fall. If he doesnt I wouldn't make that statement with any certainty.

Best we can hope for is one of our guys drops due to positional value. That argument doesn't carry the same weight in a draft with only half a dozen blue chip players.

Any trade up I do comes with a trade down at 20 and nets us what could be a very similar valued player in the second.

Let’s say the Cowboys are trading up - so for those of you who don’t want to trade up , too bad. They’re already on the clock at pick 6, let’s say.

Would you prefer the Cowboys drafted Bailey or Downs here?

This one I am a bit torn on. Looking to see what you guys think about this
Downs every time.

Bailey is a terrible run defender and could end up on the bench in every short yardage package

I have always thought he was way overrated simply because there aren’t many pass rush specialists this year

There are also concerns about his effort and willingness to even play when he’s not able to jsut rush the passer.

Anyone who was crying about Micah being a run liability, well, this guy is worse at run defense and not even close as a pass rusher.

Stay away

Interesting take on Bailey bc everything I have read in regards to his run defense is the exact opposite of what you just said.
You must be reading his mom’s social media.

Bailey........easy decision

Gives me DWare-like vibes .......
Ware was 6’4”, 260

Bailey is 6’3” and maxed out at 240.

Ware was also a terrific run defender and three down player.

Bailey is a poor run defender and definitely lacks the drive of Ware.

I don’t see any similarities between the two to be honest

Maybe I should have worded my post differently.........I wasn't talking about measurements but hoping he could have a DWare-type impact ( Pass rushing LBer - 3-4 scheme )

Ware and Bailey are the exact same size as prospects...6'4 - 251.

I think the "bad run defender" is reaching a little bit. It is not a strength but I would probably call it average which for a pass rusher of his caliber usually gets drafted in the top half of any draft. The metrics also support that.

Ware was just a classic tank of a DE.

Like a 90s throwback.

David Bailey is more of an modern day Micah Parsons type.

The positional value for Bailey would rank higher.

However the question is flawed from the start.

Chances are that even if you trade up to six...Bailey would already be gone. Anything can happen but the odds are better that Downs would be there more than Bailey being there.

So the realistic answer would be Downs. Whether you like Bailey better or not.

Ok. In this scenario they’re both available. Get over it.

there are lots of ways to get a pass rush

not many ways to make up for bad or mediocre safety play

love'm both.
but give me caleb downs.
i run that card to the podium and move on with my day...happy.
