We have invested resources on DT,
C'mon KJ......before Mazi, what major resources did we invest in the DT position? Major being the key word cozs that is what the other NFCE teams have done.

Cowboys have a chance to make the post season. One and done, of course, but not a long shot to win the division and get in.
They have a chance to make the postseason, but their chances are going to be greatly reduced if they lose on Sunday, especially if it’s another lopsided loss.

Depends on who you face. We were pretty good the first game against Cleveland's backup back. We were very bad the second one. I think 4.9 for the season is about the best we can expect with the personnel we have. Hopefully, Zimmer can do make chicken salad out of it, but don't be surprised if it tastes like ...
That backup averaged 9.1 ypc vs the Jaguars last Sunday!

Davis and Carter are extremely overrated and some fans were crying cause the eagles "stole" them. Who's laughing now.

You don’t always have to invest major resources as in a first round pick to build a solid DL. Other than Mazi, Kelvin Pritchett back in 1991 was the last DT the Cowboys used a first round pick on and he never played for the Cowboys. They traded him to Detroit for a second, third and fourth round pick. We used a first round pick on DT Russell Maryland in 1990. In 1987 we used a first round pick on DT Danny Noonan and he went bust. We’ve only used 5 first round picks on DT’s in our entire history, including the first rounder on Pritchett. The first player the Cowboys ever drafted was a DT Bob Lilly. We’re never in a position to draft a real good one. There’s always a better player on the board.

The honeymoon is over with those picks. I caught bits of a WIP segment on the way back from the airport Tuesday and you’d think it was the zone with all complaining about their DTs and the wasted picks by Roseman.

Roseman is overrated too. Has crappy fa signings like Huff yet Noone wants to talk about it.

KJ....I'm talking about now! Today regarding Bally's post ...........in other words, based on what other teams in the division have currently invested in the DT position their standards should be higher but so far ( this season that is ) they aren't doing any better than Mazi and Osa.

The draft is a crapshoot regardless the position. Mazi has been a bust and Osa who showed a lot of potential earlier in his career doesn’t seem to be making much progress. He looked like he might develop into a great player, but that hasn’t been the case. He certainly hasn’t been terrible, but I was hoping for better at this stage in his career. He disappears at times.

The eagles have bad DE’s and bad LB’s.

So for all your DT truthers. Yes their DT’s are better. But their ends and LB’s are not.

It still doesn’t mean the cowboys DT’s don’t stink though. Our ends and LB’s are good or promising youngsters. Still gotta work on getting some DT’s though.

I should note, it’s also early. Relatively small sample sizes for all teams.

Interesting note. Dallas gave up 4.9 yards per carry in each of its games. Seems like we stopped the run against Cleveland, right? They only ran 19 times but for 93 yards. NO ran for 190 on 39 carries.

Horrible pathetic division.
Yep, hopefully that means 6 victories this season... I'll take them however I can get them. I'm not one of those that only accept wins against +500 opponents.

Wow! Didn't know the eagles are giving up 6.4 yards a carry. I thought we were bad!! LOL
Atlanta just shredded them Monday night.

In the offseason, the Eagles fans were giddy thinking they got a professional DC in Fangio. They are finding out that he might also be a dud.

Davis is basically a bust for them too. They had a chance to take Kyle Hamilton, when they had real safety problems, but instead took Davis. LOL. Nice job, Howie.

Carter is just in his second year with Philly. That really makes no difference. We have invested resources on DT, but none of the players are working out. The Commanders traded Montez Sweat and Chase Young. That certainly hasn’t helped them upfront. I have more confidence Philly will figure out their run defense than I do the Cowboys figuring out their problems upfront.
We haven't invested the same resources in the position that others have. And Mazi was a fringe first rounder on top of that with a ceiling of being a big body in the middle. He didn't have the ceiling of some other prominent first round DTs.

Carter will likely be good. Davis? That's a different story. He's basically in bust territory at this point. The fact the Commanders aren't getting more out of Payne and Allen is criminal. Shoot, Jerry, make a call and see if you can get one of them in a trade.

Also, a good point. I guess I needed to check the stats better, although you generally expect YPC to fall some with more carries. I expect with some young LBs playing (along with one old one) and the interior of our line being suspect that this might be who we are, at least until those younger linebackers mature a bit, primarily Overshown and Liufau ... I think Clark may be what he is at this point.
