Believe it or not, some of us think we can be diehard, lifelong Cowboys fans and still retain a measure of objectivity. If we are going to say what we are tired of, I'm tired of an honest opinion about THE TEAM I LOVE, when it is negative, immediately being SHOUTED DOWN.
If being a fan means saying nothing that is negative, then you can say that I'm not a fan. Funny, though, if I'm not a fan, why do I keep tuning in, and doing stuff like this, for 20 plus years?
Answer: I am a fan, I just am not a Pollyanna who has to hear only "good thoughts" to love my team.
I'll take Drew Bledsoe as an example. My honest opinion is that we need to develop our own long term QB instead of patching the position every couple of years. I STILL believe that. I believe it on Bledsoe's good days, great days, and bad days.
BUT, just because that is my honest opinion doesn't mean for a second that I don't say "great throw Drew" when he hits Witten for a TD pass, or that I won't admit that I'm wrong if we win a Super Bowl with Bledsoe. Why if there is a Super Bowl? Because I still believe that this is what our team should aim for. Not just respectability or a playoff appearance, but the championship.
So see, I can be "negative" and positive about the same player based on what part of the issue we are discussing.
That isn't being an anti-fan.
I don't think I'm alone in thinking that way.
