The offensive line was whipped at the point of attack.Look at all the San Diego players driving on the ball.

Look at the San Diego TD earlier in the game.Brooking and Co. have been turned around and blown off the ball.

It doesn't matter if you call the same play.In that situation you have to have trust in your line to blow the defenders off the ball. You have to put your trust in a power back to drive the ball.None of that happened and it cost them points.

San Diego can say they knew the play,it shouldn't matter if you truly have a dominant line with a yard to go.

Craig

We don't have a dominant line. So how about helping these guys out with better play design/calling/strategy.

I have a problem with running the play to Barber on all 4 plays. Barber is a shell of the guy that got the big contact a couple years ago.

A QB draw from shotgun like we ran against the Giants early in the season?

A delay to Felix.

Hell, something like the play we ran last week against the Giants with the play action, fake pitch to Miles, and a pass to a wide open Roy in the middle.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but I know I called att 4 plays based on the players and the formation and I'm sure at least half of this board did and probably most of the Chargers did. Terrible play calling. If you're gonna go for it on 4th down, 1 pass would have been ok.

I don't think we have a dominant line week in week out.But agianst what the Chargers rolled with I think they should have been able to get a yard on three tries.

Besides, even if Garrett would have added a power sweep or a pitch to the perimeter and failed another group of people would be moaning and groaning about the playcalling. You just can't satisfy everybody everytime.

the bottom line is if you KNEW this was 4 down territory....then you should have PLANNED to mix in a pass at some point.

I would've called 4 straight runs too.

There is no reason not to score with our massive line and Marion Barber from a foot out.

You really want to blame that on Garrett? Really???????????

Im off the Garrett bandwaggon myself but you gotta show some sense.

I might have called 4 straight runs as well.

But they wouldn't have been the same dive play to the right each time. I would've ran at Shawn Merriman.

I agree. We ran the ball over the RG/RT three straight times and we didn't get it done. Would have been nice to see us try the other side or even a QB sneak. I don't know. Doesn't really matter. It shouldn't take three rushes to get a yard.

When they lined up with Barber at FB, I thought, smart play, they'll toss it to Felix cause EVERYONE will be expecting Barber to get the ball here.

I was wrong.

SD knew we were going to run. Garrett should have called a play action pass. Even if it doesn't work it keeps the defense honest.

That against a DLine with a third team NT and a couple of banged up LBer's. It should have been run in on the first attempt, but we lost the battle for the LOS. So what's new.

Barber 3 straight Carries @ Goal Line STINKS and smells terrible. Play Action Pass down there scores an easy TD. I am getting less and less crazy about Garrett. I am at the point I want changes at HC and OC.
SO much for my theory that he can be the short yardage/goalline guy.

THough in fairness..watch the video, the OLine had ZERO push and SD LBs filled gaps. The OLine was just destroyed on those plays. THey read run the whole way.

How's that saying go? Insanity is trying the same thing and then expecting different results. 4 freaking same play in a row.

I was expecting the exact same thing. The FB Fake/Toss play from NCAA Football 10 :D

I was also wrong.

I love play action pass at the goal line, but here's the problem.

Game situation. We had just run it down their throats for 8 plus plays to get a first and goal from the four.
Preach it.

1st down on the Dallas 27: Felix runs 12 yards

1st down on the Dallas 39: Felix runs for 12 yards

1st down at the San Diego 49: Felix runs for 5 yards

2nd down at the San Diego 44: Barber runs for 8 yards

1st down at the San Diego 36: Barber runs for 5 yards

2nd down pass falls incomplete

3rd down at the San Diego 31: Choice runs for 5 yards

1st down at the San Diego 26: Choice runs for 6 yards

2nd down at the San Diego 20: Felix runs for 7 yards

1st down at the San Diego 13: Felix runs for 1 yard

2nd down at the San Diego 12: Barber runs 4 yards and penalty tacks on 4 more yards.

FIRST DOWN AT THE SAN DIEGO 4 YARD LINE

At this point we needed to pass? Please. We methodically ate up 69 yards on the ground, but now we needed to pass with only four yards to go?

I would have ran all four downs as well. The same line which abused San Diego's defensive front on ten nearly consecutive runs did not execute their blocking assignments during the final four runs. Still, some wish to point fingers at anyone BUT the offensive line for failing to score?

I love CowboysZone.
