Newy Scruggs of NBC 5 in Dallas-Ft. Worth is reporting that Marion Barber's quadriceps injury will keep him out of action for one to two weeks.

Scruggs has team connections as a local sports anchor who hosts a radio show on the Cowboys station. The 1-2 week timetable has not been reported elsewhere, though, so it's far from concrete.

do you people realize it's a very real possibility that the reason Jones is so successful is because of his role as the change of pace?

I am so tired of the whining people do, like they know better than professionals.

Report: Barber to miss at least one game

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 22, 2009 2:16 PM ET
The Cowboys say that Marion Barber is "day-to-day" with a quadriceps strain.

Newy Scruggs, a radio host on the Cowboys radio station says that Barber will miss 1-2 weeks. Scruggs is also a sports anchor at NBC-5 in Dallas.

We won't know Barber's status for sure until the Cowboys play the Panthers on Monday night, but Scruggs presumably has strong ties within the organization because of his job. ESPN previously reported Barber had a 50-50 shot to play this week.

From what we've seen from the Cowboys last year, losing Barber won't be a devastating blow.

The team's offensive line has opened up huge holes in the running game, and Tashard Choice is more than capable enough to handle a bigger role.

Dallas' concerns in the secondary (and some would argue quarterback) seem more pressing than a possible short-term absence from Barber.

UPDATE: The Cowboys signed running back Chauncey Washington to their practice squad Tuesday. He could be activated if Barber doesn't play this week. The Cowboys showed previous interest in Washington when they put in a waiver claim for him two weeks ago.

No, they don't. It's the same as the Hambrick averages 5.7 yards per carry days. Logic need not apply.

If Choice and Felix are taking care of business don't bring MB3 back until he's fully recovered.

The high confidence in Choice is simply because he's proven that he can play in the regular offense and not just as the change of pace role. His effectiveness is not an unknown.

Since we've seen him start and play decent against some tough defenses, I think it's ok to feel confident that he can do it again for a couple of weeks.

Good, it doesnt seem like that bad an injury, I am confident Choice and Jones can hold down the fort. I mean, I never wanna see a player hurt, but at least we have the depth to cover him

Now off to set Felix as my starter on my fantasy team

Yeah, i think he could of got close to the 1000 yards, i have him on my fantasy team, now im looking to pick up choice. Choice and felix can handle the load, but no one inspires the team like barber.

it's just tiresome that every time a guy has a decent game or run of games people are ready and willing to dump our starters in favor of them.

just because a player is effective in his role doesn't mean we need to start benching starters in favor of them.

honestly, the whole felix versus barber as the starter thing has rubbed me raw and I am tired of hearing it.

That's just the nature of fandom.

Julius was the favorite fan favorite for about a year. Along comes Barber, then he's the Barbarian. Bye-bye Julius

Draft Felix and Choice...Now all of a sudden the Barbarian is no longer a beast.

It is what it is.
