Barry Bonds Indicted

His ex-girlfriend has testified before the grand jury that Bonds told her that he was taking steroids as far back as 1999. Seems like he knew he was taking them.

Things like that help to prove someone is lying.

And you may not think there's justification to keep him out of the hall of fame, but you're not a voter. Do you think the 1909 Black Sox deserved to be banned from baseball and the hall of fame? They were indicted and then acquitted.

Steroids were not banned by MLB till 2005. How does this apply only to Bonds? Canseco is being proven correct - 50-75% of MLB were on performance enhancing drugs. This is a bonds witch hunt - and he to my knowledge has never failed a MLB drug test since it was made illegal.

Do all the amphetimine users of past 100 years get nailed since they only made it illegal past few years? Damn Cheaters.

Yeah...

And the links to Balco who are known steroids suppliers...

Greg Anderson who is the same.

The fact that every other big name who has had connections with Balco has either admitted to using steroids or tested positive.

Pick one.

You can complain about a witch hunt if you want. Why didn't they go after Palmeiro, he lied under oath?? But you really can't deny that Bonds was taking steroids.... legal or not.

And nors, you continue to miss the boat completely. It doesn't have anything to do with the legality of the substances when he took them. But you keep on breathing that sand there bud.

I get that 50-75% of the players in that era did steroids or HGH. I just find it a witch hunt they only are going after Bonds like this.

But it was not illegal till 2005 by MLB.

Same as going after all the players who did amphed/speed a few years back.

Time will judge players on their performance in their Era. Bonds is the best baseball player I saw in my lifetime. Ruth will always be the most dominant home run hitter, he dominated his eralike no other ever has.

Shame on Bonds is other than that one season, he never hit more than 50 home runs.

And at age 43 hit 28 HR's and led the league in OBP. People are somewhat distracted, Barry Bonds was one of the greatest to play the game ever. On Steroids or not. In this era most all were juiced pre 2005.

They where illegal in the US to take which has nothing to do with baseball

I get that, he is facing 30 years for potentially lying under oath. Which really is ludicre compared to what Vick, Child molestors and violent offenders usually get off on.

Fact is still why are the other thousands of MLB players on steroids past 15 years not getting same scrutiny? Canseco was right.....

It's 4 or 5 different counts. Those are the maximum sentences he could face. If he serves 30 years I'd be shocked. But if that's your beef, take it up with Congress. It has nothing to do with MLB.

Those players have gotten plenty of scrutiny. Palmeiro was blackballed from the league. McGwire has been skewered by the media and public perception. Giambi was treated viciously by the NY media for a while.

The key difference with Giambi is that he apologized and showed remorse for his actions. He returned, off steroids, and has brought himself back to respectability.

Bonds thought he was more important than the game, and he thought he could get away with it. And until this week, he had. His arrogance is what is costing him more than anything.

You could be the best baseball player ever, but you're still just that.... a player. He's not bigger than the game.
