QB, DE, LT and RB are 4 key positions highly overpaid. Those 4 positions being overpaid will eat up half of your salary cap. That's not including WR and other positions of need.

The owners have a salary cap to deal with. I wish there wasn't one so Jerry could pay high pay for every position. That's what helped him win those 3 Super Bowls in the 90s. Sadly, when the salary cap came into effect, it ended the Cowboys ability to even reach a conference championship game. You prefer to keep the failed 27 years of overpaying your QB, LT, DE and RB which has led to early round playoff exits?

That $60 million is his cap hit. His base salary is $29 million. And he'll get $5 million roster bonus.

That says a lot about what the Bears think about their current roster. They must think all of their UDFAs have a shot at the 53.

The minimum salary for the 2023 season if a player is on the Active/Inactive list (on the 53 man roster) is $750,000. The guarantee is the portion of the $750,000 the player gets to take with him should he be released. The bonus is the upfront portion they get at signing (as well know) that is taken out of the total amount owed the player.

Good for the Bears UDFAs.

You’d think the PA would be interested in having that money spread around a little more, and the owners would of course be into anything that restricts spending.

They messed up on the last cba. They agreed to the rookie contracts and said they will do that if the money goes to veterans. It didn’t work that way, instead the teams give that extra money to the QB. So the rookies got stuck and it all went to the QBs.

A few things.

Cowboys did not get those rings because of no salary cap. It wasn’t like the Cowboys were the only team who had to face no cap. Everyone has to go through it. Cowboys made great trades and draft selections.

He also hasn’t failed for 27 years because of overpaying. He’s failed because of piss poor coaching hires. He gave Garrett 10 years. Had nothing to do with overpaying. That’s odd you think that.
