Basically the trade comes down to this...

Whose to say that they will draft well? As you said, they had a bad draft last year and nothing is stopping them from doing it again. And don't act like we gave up the freaking bank for Spencer. They got a second rounder (a good pick), a third rounder (an okay pick), and a fifth rounder (normally a throw-away pick for even the best drafting teams). Nothing to be that scared of.

And what if Spencer leads the league in sacks in a couple of years, constantly putting McNabb into the ground on a game-by-game basis?

If that happens I'll be the happiest guy on this board.

But it's a HUGE gamble to give two first day picks to a conference rival.... They gambled too....hopefully, ours will pay bigger dividends.

Any other team (outside our division), and I'm happy.

But our defense had a lot of problems. We had no pass rusher outside of Ware (covered now), we couldn't cover anyone either (how do we address this now?).

We have no depth at NT, CB, and we still need help at WR. I think we also could use OL help.

We picked up a S and Watkins has a year under his belt, We have a ton of young WRs and still theres a lot of talent left out there. To hell with Filthy, who cares about them. Problem is, I wouldn't necessarily have been happy with Spencer at 22.
