This trade made my day -- we got just about everything I've been calling for. First, I wanted to trade down for a first rounder next year. Check. Second I've been saying we had too many pix so we should use them to trade up somewhere. Check. We lost 30 chart points on the deal (essentially the 5th) but other than that, fantastic. Third, I was warming up to Spencer as an antidote/alternative to the Blah WRs, CBs and safeties that everyone else was talking up.

Now let's see who's sitting there for us in the 2nd. But a fantastic move.

Come on, we moved four spots back, got a probable top 5/10 first next year, and still got the guy Wade and Jerry wanted coming into the draft. Spencer is more highly rated coming out of Purdue than Shaun Phillips was, and we are running the same 3-4 Phillips played in San Diego. If Ware roughly equals Merriman and Spencer can be what Phillips is in San Diego I have high hopes for the blitz packages Wade should be able to put together.

Too many people dont understand why this was a great series of trades. They think we should have tried to get 30 more points. Lame.

Yeah, we should have let the chance to have to have the last good pass rusher in the draft slip through fingers because we wanted to squeeze another 6th round draft pick out of it.

We really needed that guy who's probably not going to make our 53 man roster.

Honestly guys, how many roooks do you see making the squad? at this point I'm all for packaging some of 6/7th round picks to get more impact players earlier in the draft. Quality over quantity.

From Wade on Spencer: "And we thought the guy was got was a first round player and a really good player. He had 93 tackles last year. He had 26 TFL’s. You hardly ever hear of a DE having 93 tackles. He gets to the football and he’s a really good pass rusher. We asked a lot of OT’s who was the best pass rusher they played against, and almost every one of them said Spencer. In a 3-4 defense, those outside guys convert well to a OLB and give you the pressure that you need. Anytime you can get a pressure player that you take him"

Great trades. Next April, the draft talk will be some kind of crazy.

Yeah, were would Indy be without that dominant defense?

Fact No.1: No matter who the Cowboys selected at any position, there will be a certain number of idiot fans who come here to complain and let us all know that they don't like it.

Fact No. 2: No matter who we get, there are some fans who don't want anything ever except WRs.

Fact No. 3: Some people get mad at losing 5th round picks as if a 5th rounder is likely to make this team; these people tend to think they have projected certain Hall of Famers who will be available there for us.

Fact No. 4: Some people want satisfaction now and can't appreciate the value of having a good pick next year.

Fact No. 5: Everyone has a few players they love. If they don't get their players, they are just bitter.

Edit... Fact No. 6: This team has excellent depth, and very few players will be making this team.

Conclusion: If you are one of the sane people who see today as a great day for the Cowboys so far, then smile and enjoy this heaven-like feeling. Don't let the whiney little punks who are complaining get you down. Because they are inevitable.
Word.

Face it people, the drive to predict is killing sports. What does it get you? A few pats on the back? A couple of free drinks? We can no longer watch and enjoy, we have to pretend to be movers and shakers also?

I loved the poll: who's going to have a better career, Russell or Quinn? Who knows? Who will remember if you were on the winning side. Just you, and you'll spend a majority of your time trying to remind people how right you were.

It's childish to want everything instantly. Life doesn't work that way; we've just let BSPN and its syncophants convince us that's how it should be.
