1. Robert Quinn, OLB, UNC, 6'5 268 4.59. Dez Bryant part deux. Top 5 talent drops to the Cowboys due to character concerns. Plays with a mean streak and all out hustle to match his freakish athleticism. Had 11 sacks, 20 TFL & 6 FF in 2009. Beat brain cancer in high school.

2. J.J. Watt, DE/TE, Wisconsin, 6'6 292 4.85. Former TE and walk-on is uber athletic and uber raw, having only played DE at collegiate level for 2 seasons. Sky is the limit for this kid - will only become a bigger beast once he really learns the position. Collected 59 tackles, 7 sacks and 1 INT in 2010, so far.

3. Mark Herzlich, ILB, Boston College, 6'4 245 4.75. The best LB in 2008, better than Laurinaitis, Maualuga, Cushing, McClain, etc. A beast against the run and in coverage. Still managed 4 INTs in 2010 playing with a broken hand. Guy is so tough he literally fought cancer ... and won. Ran in the 4.6's in 2008 before he had to take 2009 off. Only available this late b/c still not 100% and still getting the rust knocked off.

4. Mark LeGree, FS, Appalachian State, 6'0 200 4.52. If this kid played D1, was 2 inches taller or 10 lbs heavier he would be the first safety taken in this draft. Super instinctive ballhawk and ultra productive - 10 INTs in 2008, 7 in 2009 and 5 in 2010 (5 Ints in only 5 games, due to injury). Smallish frame but a hard hitter and very good tackler.

5. John Moffitt, OG, Wisconsin, 6'5 325. Sloppy build so stock will fall after combine, but this guy can flat out play. A pure sloberknocker in the run game.

6a. Cecil Shorts, WR, Mount Union, 6'0 190 4.43. Hoss sold me on this kid. Playmaker at WR, KR and even RB. Not sure if he lasts this long though.

6b. Shiloh Keo, DB/ST, Idaho, 5'11, 215 4.62. Tackling machine and ST demon. Vicious hitter.

7. Karl Klug, DL, Iowa, 6'3 270 4.79. Undersized, but great work ethic and athleticism, like all Iowa defensive players.

I'll take it and run.

I'm starting to love LeGree. And Herzlich too, if he's healthy.

Cecil in the 6th is even more wishful thinking. Thats like mocking Luck to the patriots at 32. No WAY he lasts that long.

Wheres my tackle?

Both Watt and Klug can play DT. If you mean NT, then maybe Stephen Paea, if he falls to the second round.

2. Stephen Paea, NT/DT, Oregon State, 6'1 315 4.98. Athletic, fast and strong as a mofo. Paea absolutely destroyed USC's Kris O'Dowd this season, a guy known for his power and run blocking. Paea finished with 6 SACKS, 10 TFL, 4 FF in 2010.

No offensive lineman before the 5th round?

No secondary help until the 4th round?

Wow.

Wow.

Its called Free Agency. Plus this is not a good draft for OL.

Cowboys have both talent and depth in the secondary. They also have inexperienced youth (Ansah). Instead of bringing in yet another rook, why not find a vet FS who can QB this secondary?

Consistant pressure on the QB is any secondary's best friend.

Forcing your draft due to need is the surest way to a bust. Take chances on blue chip talent that free falls regardless of position. Not everyone will be a Dez Bryant, but the reward is so much greater than the risk.

Dallas needs to select the NCAA's #1 offensive lineman won by Gabe Carimi of Wisconsin.

OK. I got it. There will be NO offensive lineman or safeties who represent a good value when it comes to the Cowboys turn to draft in the first three rounds.

Yeah.

LOL. LeGree is the best S in the draft, unless you count Peterson. Why does it matter that I take him in the 4th instead of the 3rd?

So because I choose to use FA to upgrade the OL instead of the first 3 rounds, I deserve your mockery? Moffit is no slouch either, does not matter if he is a 2nd day pick. You obviously do not like the picks no matter the reasons. Your sarcasm and opinion is duly noted.

I dunno.

Hos' draft came up with a decent FS in the second round.

Your first rounder is big puzzle to me. I assume you think Spencer needs to be replaced, but there's been no inkling that the Cowboys have been dissatisfied with the play of Spencer.

Also keep in mind that Spencer's position is not the primary pass rush position of the defense. Whoever mans that spot has to be well versed against the run and be able to provide coverage.

But the bottom line is, I don't think Spencer is the problem with the pass rush.

Look at the DE's. They're getting no push on the pass rush. What's needed on this defense more-so than another Ware-clone is at least one of the 3-4 DE's who can provide some pass rush.

Again, look at the draft Hos just put up. I think he nailed it the kid he's suggesting the Cowboys take in the first round. He fits this defense to a "T".

Quinn? Not so much.

Nah, Spencer isnt good enough to pass on Quinn if he you have him rated appropriately.

Bat could have went 1 step further w/ his Quinn = Dez comparision. Quinn is a playmaker and our D needs a Dez on defense.

Quinn is also 20 years old and already a man-child. Fairley is almost 23.

In this defense usually four guys rush the passer. The 3 down lineman and Ware.

Spencer is not being utilized as a pass rusher as often as what you think.

It's playing the run and coverage. Those are his two prime responsibilities.

I don't care about the age. It's about filling a need on this team and a disruptive DE end is more necessary than another Ware-clone, who's not going to be rushing the passer that often.

This will be an unusually good pick for this team. Its actually somewhat of a fluke considering the terrible HC to start and amazing one going forward. I dont want to use the reward for this terrible season based on solely on need

Thats why I also like Patrick Peterson, who may not start until year 2.(But will still see plenty of time when Newman moves to the slot)

We could do worse then another go around w/ some combination of Igor, Bowen, Hatcher, Rat, Price, Spears, Lessimore, Rookie X.

Ware, Spencer, and Quinn are big boys. I dont want to hire the D-coordinator that couldnt find a use for them

How many appalachain state games have you seen? Saying he's the best safety in the draft is a bit much (b/c peterson will be playing cb most likely).
