Battle of the Late Night Shows

I liked his last show....Pale...VERY pale in comparison to the classic Carlin at Carnagie (sp?) but was not bad.

However I saw him on some political show, or some show where he was talking politics and he was a very VERY..did I mention VERY, bitter man.

I was thinking how could someone of his comedic talent be so bitter.

But I still love him for CAC and his older stuff. Always have a place in my heart for those.

Back in the day was so much better for the Stand Ups...The great stuff like Bill Cosby's stand up act ( a classic), Eddie Murphy's two shows, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams...Rodney Dangerfields young comedian specials.

Those were the days, but you just don't see that kind of stuff as much. I guess you have the Blue Collar comedy tours but they just don't pack the punch the older Stand up acts did.

I hear ya... liked him before.... couldnt sit through his last show. I saw him too... was it Bill Mauuuuuuuuuuuher?

After his wife died right? Since she died he has gotten darker and darker with his comedy :(

She has been dead for over ten years now I think, but you are right... his comedy has changed...

He used to be the comic of social observation, now his act seems bitter and vindictive...

I watched his HBO Special the other night and it was sad to see how he moves around now... like a little old man...

He's not the guy he used to be, but we all change with age. I just wish he didn't seem so bitter now...

Conan is easily the best late night host out there. He has been for many many years. Of the big 3, Letterman is the worst. He's just extremely stale and boring.

Conan needs to fire his writers though. His show was the best thing on TV during the writer's strike. I actually started Tivoing it. Since the writers came back I don't bother anymore, it's just not anywhere near as funny. Stupid writers.

Damn I really thought Jimmy would win this poll. I owe my friend lunch now.

Well he IS pretty darn old. Heck he seemed old back when he did Carnegie.

However if you watched that last special you had to laugh at the part where he is talking about people saying...if you ever need anything just ask...I am sure you remember that part.:laugh2:

Clearly that is your opinion.... because there is no clear cut runaway winner. None are "great" IMO.

Letterman - a wonder of the world... he has always been stale and boring... he just has a following.... he is an acquired taste.. I guess...
