I can't speak for everyone, Guru, but I think most would be interested in a trade for a late pick before he is released in order to avoid a free agent bidding war.
I for one am interested in Reader as an upgrade to the defense and roster as a whole. I want to see what Dallas has at DT in TC. But, if the Lions are going to release Reader, I'm sure the Lions will want something. Offering a late pick (6th or 7th round) or even one of the three projected 5th round picks Dallas has in 2026 in order to take on his reasonable $7MM 2025 salary versus having to pay him free agent prices on the open market would be prudent.
All I'm saying is, Dallas should see what they have in-house, but if an opportunity presents itself to add talent, keep your eyes open.
It remains to be seen if Reader is even a potential cut candidate. So who knows. But, I would definitely be interested in the player if he is a cut candidate.
