Chaisson has had success against all these top tackles in this class. His issue has been not being consistent enough and his inability to finish. He is just 20 years old and missed almost an entire year due to injury. He was the best LSU defender down the stretch, a unit that has a few 1st rd prospects. Yes, a team who drafts him is not getting a finished product and has no idea what type of player he will become, but his upside could be top 5 in this entire draft.

Either one would be fine. Pass rushers are hard to find. Don’t be surprised if both go in the top 20. I would not be surprised if both are gone by 15. They both fit 3/4 defenses. The Ravens, Dolphins and Patriots for example need pass rushers. They have the draft chips to move in front of us or trade with us.

I agree with you, but these type of talents are usually top 5-10 selections. If you can land one at a discounted price, it's worth the gamble.

I think Chaisson is my top choice at 17. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if the Cowboys think they are fine at DE now.

Chaisson is not the perfect player with years of production but on his highlights he shows elite skill. He moves like very few players do. His lack of big time production may be a red flag, but players very rarely produce right away after missing most of a year.

With his elite skill set, he was considered one of the leaders of the LSU team despite being young and also without a lot of production. I believe he also made the all academic team. I think even at 17, you are buying low on a guy who can easily outplay that spot.

Maybe he is a situational pass rusher early on but I envision a super rush foursome on passing downs with some of our other defensive ends.

If Chaisson is the pick in round one, Wr, safety or cb could be the pick in round two. I know cb is a need but a guy like Shenault May be too good to pass up.

I'd prefer they didn't take either of them, but if they had to, I'd take Chaisson over Baun. I just do not think they need to invest anymore high draft picks on LBs. But Hopefully Henderson or Kinlaw is available at 17 so they get a player at position of need.

I agree to some point. Tyron Smith was also a 20 year old rookie who had similar question marks about. If I remember correctly, some thought he had to add more functional weight, might be more of a Right Tackle on the NFL Level, wasn't even the best lineman on his college team. It was an potential, upside pick in the top 10. Some argued at the time, take the safer Tackle in Castonzo. It worked out well for the Cowboys banking on Tyron Smith's upside potential,

I don’t think that’s a very relevant comparison though as both players need to add size/power for the NFL. That’s not my concern with Chaisson.

Smith’s scouting report didn’t indicate him getting beat a lot or having major technique issues it was just getting bigger and stronger and continuing to grow in the position.

There’s a lot less risk in a prospect getting bigger and stronger than there is in them getting more productive. If my only concern with Chaisson was size, I’d take him in the top 15.

Probably not but the NFL scouts look at things different then draftnicks. Plus even draftnicks think he is one of the best pass rushers. His cone drill was fantastic.

My friend probably is, but he is true diehard LSU fan! I just haven’t watched Chaisson enough to truly form an opinion.

He showed some flashes in 2018 but then regressed in 19. I too thought he'd be really good.
