BB says he would draft Banks at 12 to replace Martin ( RG)

I won't disagree with you at all there. One of the good things about McCarthy leaving is that it likely means Solari and Schotty will, too. I think McCarthy is a smart offensive coach. He sometimes gets tunnel vision, though, and fails to get the most out of certain positions.

That being said, I thought Solari did a pretty nice job with several of the younger linemen, so I don't think he's a bad teacher. I do think his and Schotty's blocking schemes aren't very good, though, although we did seem to do better when they adjusted them some ... doing more of what they should have been doing from the start.
Nate likes Soleri, thinks he's a good coach, I'm just wondering why the end results have been crap. Guyton looks like a stunned deer, Steele is still has crap pass pro technique, the guys in the middle seem to be getting by strictly by being maulers!

I think sometimes that coaches outsmart themselves. They think if the players execute this or that right, then watch out, but don't figure out until it's too late that the players they have aren't ready or aren't able to execute this or that. I know Martin was on the decline, but I also think our blocking scheme didn't fit the player he is now, adding to his struggles. If you've got maulers, you have to let them maul. If you've got movers, you have to let them move.
