After the last two weeks, I think it's very questionable as to Florida and Bama but be that as it may, they are still unbeaten.

That's the problem with the BCS right there, the assumption of how good USC are puts them ahead of teams who are quite honestly playing better :bang2:

Iowa at #4 does the same thing. The struggled to beat Northern Iowa and Arkansas St. at home. I have heard a few mediots say that if Iowa wins out that they should play for the MNC. The Big 10 is a weak conference yet again, but people refuse to see it.

Just win Baby. The top 4 teams are doing just that-winning. Style point crap is just that - crap. As long as they keep winning no matter how they deserve to stay up there.

This is kinda the question I have as well. Lets say, for the sake of discussion, that Texas wins out and goes unbeaten. Lets also say that both Florida and Bama suffer at least one loss and this is not really a stretch for me because I don't think that either of those teams are as good as they are being billed at this point. If Iowa goes unbeaten or Boise or Cincy or TCU, who I believe is better then Cincy or Iowa and maybe Boise, does the SEC still get the node on the BCS championship game?

Not Florida IMO. IMO, Florida lost to Arkansas. I know that's not what is reflected but that's what happened IMO.

No, Iowa would play Texas for the title. Iowa's computer ranking is #1 in the nation, and that should be enough with the pollsters to put them in if they are undefeated.

I think Iowa will lose at Ohio St. though. One loss SEC team probably, if Iowa loses. I hate the BCS though. So much time is spent agonizing and talking about this stupid BS mechanism of getting a champion in what is otherwise the best sport out there (college football). Let's say today was the end of the regular season. There's no way to know who the best two teams are right now. It's just not possible to know. It's subjective. So the only reasonable way to determine a champion is with a playoff. And not a 2 team playoff, has to be at least 8 teams. Look at the top 8 in the BCS today. Imagine what an incredible playoff that would be..

Right now it is but I don't know that it won't change by the end of the season. The kicker here is that Iowa probably couldn't beat TCU or Boise St.

Yes because their strength of schedule got significantly worse with the game against Hawaii, and the computers aren't allowed to factor in margin of victory so it doesn't matter if they won by 4 or 45.

Of course, further illustrating the absurdity of the BCS, these same computers have Oregon higher than Boise State despite the fact that Boise State has a better record and beat Oregon.

I think the BCS people are going to be HUGE fans of the Buckeyes going forward, hoping they beat Iowa. We could easily have another nightmare scenario like (I think it was) 2002 where 3 teams from major conferences go unbeaten. It would be the winner of Florida-Alabama, Texas and Iowa - and that doesn't even count all the teams from minor conferences who could finish unbeaten, such as Cincy, BSU and TCU. (Sorry, Cincy, I know that technically the Big East is a BCS conference, but they aren't even as strong as the Mountain West top to bottom).

Good I hope there is a nightmare situation. Too bad Houston blew it and lost to UTEP or they would be in the mix as well. My hopes being that the messier the situation will create more of a push to change things. Doubtful. And I would still put Iowa behind every other team that hasn't lost and even 1 loss USC.

Yeah that's exactly how I feel. I actually root for nightmare situations because that is what it will take to get rid of the current system. So I guess I am rooting for Fla/Ala and TX and Iowa from here on out to finish undefeated.

The computers have Iowa at #1 and it is almost unanimous (1 computer has them at #3). If that doesn't expose the flaws in the system, I don't know what does.

I am pretty sure SOS is determined by not only who you play, but also who your opponent's opponents are.

So if that is the case, BSU could be helped greatly by Oregon knocking off USC. It not only improves BSU's SOS, but also removes USC ahead of them.

Keeping all that in mind, this BSU team is very young. They aren't going to come into their own until next year, or the year after. At that point, they are going to be a horrible proposition for the whole BCS system. Because they could then be a legit top 1-3 team.

I understand the reasoning but I honestly think the approach is wrong. I actually think that the more contraversy, the better the BCS likes it. The more contraversy, the more discussion, the more free press, the more attention, the higher the ratings, the better off the BCS is. What they don't want is indifference. When people stop paying attention, that's when the system will change because that means somebody is losing money and that can't happen.

The best thing that can happen is all but TCU, Cinci and Boise to have one loss.

Flordia,Texas and bama etc drop at least lose one game and the other 3 go undefeated that would help force a playoff system
