Be honest, how many thought we'd lose after Shankapotumus misses?

I didnt think wed lose but thought they would score. Then whoever would have won the toss would have won I though.

Did you see all the misses in pregame warmups they were showing before he kicked? He missed his kick the same way( sailing to the right).

I think he's going through the same thing a golfer goes through when they are either hooking or slicing badly. They tend to over think hence over compensate .

I picked up a C-note from a Saints fan who said during the commercial that Brees would take them down the field and tie it up. He was asking the people in his Xmas party who were all Dallas fans, and no one piped up. I'm not going to let that go unchallenged. I concede nothing until the game reads 00:00.

Like I said in another thread, I about had a heart attack watching that kick bounce off the upright.

I was watching the game in a bar and NFL Network was showing all the misses in pregame. The bartender said, "he is going to miss this kick" and I looked at him and said, "a freaking 24 yarder is almost a gimmie in the NFL, noway he misses one that short. All his misses this year have been from over 40".

Lets just say I sat there in disbelief with a blank stare on my face.........

As to the question in the OP, yes I thought it was going to OT once Brees took them right down the field. Thank God for Demarcus Ware!!!!!

I didnt think we'd definitely lose, but I did expect we'd be going to OT. They had scored fairly easy on their two previous drives and I thought the emotional letdown of seeing Folk blow it after such a great drive by our offense would be tough to overcome.

I still hate to see us cut Folk, but unless Buehler can kick PAT's and FG's (and it doesnt sound like he can) then they have no choice at this point.

I got that lump in my throat when RW dropped that third down pass.

My head almost exploded when he missed that kick.

Well instead of just throwing buehler and making him compete, how bout they actually let him practice with the kicking coach(if there is such a thing) A few days and then have him compete with Folk.

My stomach sank before he ever kicked it, when NFLN was showing his pregame misses. So much dread...

I honestly thought our defense would make a play and keep them from scoring. It helped that they had to have a TD, not just a FG.

And that's not pure optimism, because I've had that "Oh no" feeling like everyone else earlier in the year. But last night felt different.

I'd liken this situation to what happened with Vanderjagt. Vanderjagt just couldn't make anything.

I have no faith in Folk. Folk obviously has no faith in himself.

I looked at my girlfriend and said this is basically an extra point, there's no way we miss this. Then I thought about Seattle. And then he drilled the upright.

I absolutely thought we would lose the game at that point.

I felt it left the door open for the Saints but I still felt the defense could step up and make the big play to put this game away.

After the miss, I thought for sure this was headed to OT.

Then after the review, I thought, this is nice. Gives the defense a breather. They'll get a sack now.

Then they did.

And all was well.

When the 4th quarter started and the Saints had 3 on the board, I kept telling myself that there's no way this D gives up 21 in a quarter. I thought that all the way until the end. Though it was getting a little close for comfort.

Chocolate,I'm right with you on this. It also helped immensly that the Saints had an extremely bad case of 'clock management' in the 4th qtr. It would have been interesting had they had any time outs left. Not like Payton!

Thank the Lord for Demarcus Ware. Wow. What a heroic performance.
I don't like calling athletes hero's or saying a guy had a "heroic" performance BUT in this case, coming of the sprained neck, after us fans (the team and him) went through last week seeing him taken off the field on a stretcher in a neck brace you are absolutely correct.

Yeah, the great Drew Brees in clutch time was making inexplicable throws on drag routes over the middle of the field with no timeouts. Wonder when he'll hear criticism of his December play...

I honestly thought we would lose after he missed the FG. I just kept thinking about the Washington game when Suisham missed a chip shot FG and the Saints made them pay for it. I was thinking, " how can the Saints keep getting all these opportunities "? Kept thinking that these guys are really ridiculously lucky then I thought that good teams make their own luck but this was getting stupid already. However, after they got lucky against the Commanders they did score and their talent was the reason. We didn't let that happen to us and the defense really stepped up big time, thank you defense!!! Even though there probably aren't alot of great prospects out there for kickers right now, we do need to make a change. Can't afford to start missing extra points, which that FG basically was. Thought after Folk made the 44 yarder he was over the funk he was in. Wrong again!

It looked as though he was throwing curveballs with his foot.
