So that's where the term "sissy" comes from! Just kidding, I might have done the same!
Black Bears aren't that aggressive really, unless they have cubs in tow. So it was shocking at the time because I was glassing another Bear further out and didn't even see the mom and cubs. Must have smelled me and spooked them.

Neither am I really, I just know what I've experience or studied. Fun stuff!

I've had a black bear get spooked and sent her cubs up trees while I was in another tree in a stand. I peed a little.

Oh you had it easy then if they climbed a different tree. How about this guy's situation!

seen that. I know a guy that had one come up his tree and the Bear chewed up his lower legs.
Nasty! Did the guy shout at it while it was still down below, or did he stay quiet, hoping it wouldn't see him?

He didn't know it was there until it was too late. When he raised his voice in pain the Bear took off. Black Bears specifically are like cats in that they have that childlike curiosity.

Bear Behavoirs <--- Link to BearSmart website

Bears are not territorial. Being territorial means keeping other members of your species away from a given area. Wolves and primates are territorial – bears are not. Bears, like people, share home ranges. This mutual use of land and resources is a basis for bear social behaviour.
Semantics. Like I said, they overlap but they do not share the same space. That link even says they don't but then says they're not territorial. I've seen it. Bears do not share dens. Some of the information on that site you linked is also inaccurate.
Is this quoting the right post?
My personal motto for bears:

Black-fight back
Brown-lay down
Polar-it's over

:lmao:

I love bears and watch every show I can about them. Polar bears have the nastiest disposition, in general. Black usually scamper away from people.

If I am walking in the woods in the PNW, I would much rather come across a bear rather than a moose. Those suckers will tree you :omg:
Fantastic stuff guys:thumbup:

Cool dudes having cool conversation, where's @maxdogg AT ?,,He runs those black bears off the front porch of his fishing cabin.

My mother's father used to hunt/ eat them,I've seen more mountain lion(2) than bear(0)

Never seen a mountain lion. Seen a couple of lynxes and finally saw a bobcat within the last year.

LoL,the AZ. FISH&GAME require you to 'camp' a 1/4 mile away from water holes, for good reason too!,,, I had one come in on me while on a 'camp' and of course I had 2/3 rds of a six of beer chilling over nite in the water, it cut loose with what honestly sounded like a shrill woman's scream from about 75 yards away ,up the hill& behind me at around 1 a.m. ,,,er,,,I didn't sleep much the rest of that nite:confused:

Actually depends on the situation. Did you know that a male and female who have cubs will interact with other wolves, but what is often called the "Alpha Male" is actually a protective father? Pretty cool stuff.

Whereas with Bears, the father leaves the mother and cubs. The mother will actually try to fight of the boar because to the boar the cub is sometimes a food source. But also, if he takes out all the cubs the mother will be viable for to have more offspring.
Ya,don't those bear sows go into some kinda' like two year refractory period, after their first breeding?, pretty sure I've retained that useless tidbit from somewhere along the wayo_O

When I was a kid, we were camping at Lake Nimrod with my family, 12 of us, and in the middle of the night a panther came through the camp and let out a scream I still cannot describe. We all spent the rest of the night sleeping in the cars.
