Bears last in sacks allowed. Dallas 1st in overall sacking

Their not throwing the ball, so throw that stat out.

That's true that they might throw less.

You can let them win on running downs, but not on passing downs. Get them to 3rd and 5 or longer and force Fields to make a play.

And garbage stats are also used to prop up their own players and team with an agenda...this is not a one way street.

As I said you play for 60 minutes. Give we wins, stats are what they are.

Yes they can be used the other way. We see them used more against as the term…garbage stats…than for.
Total stats yes are used to prop players up at times also. Everyone has an agenda.

I am just saying the term garbage stats is stupid.

But the Bears run the ball well. We don't stop the run well. Something must give Sunday.

That is my biggest concern is stopping the run and Fields as he takes off. Maybe Hankins helps. But against Fields we need that spy.

All statistics are garbage because you can manipulate any equation using the mean, median and mode depending on what numbers you insert into a problem or equation. Stats do not tell the whole story, only the ones that you can manipulate for your advantage.

Anyone worried about this game?

I'm not treating the Bears like dogtrash, but they allow a league high amount of sacks while we lead in sacks.

Patriots got 4 sacks on them, and got badly beat. Tho they shot themselves in the foot a lot, while I can't see us doing that to the excess the Patriots did. I think defense should get 4 or 5 sacks, and Parsons (if he plays) should dominate this awful line otherwise it's a disappointment for him. 6 out of 8 of his sacks this year were either in garbage time, against a back up line, or the Bengals.

Thoughts?
I'm thinking you're using the term "garbage time" pretty loosely. He's had some sacks that put the nail in the coffin, but I can't remember too many where the game was completely out of reach. Dude's a closer, not an empty stat player.

That last part is silly. When do you expect the top pass rushers to get most of their sacks? Against the best teams with the best lines? Everybody racks up stats against bad teams. You can always break down someone's stats and say, "See, their stats are better when they play bad teams and not as good when they play good teams!" Well duh. It drives me nuts when people do that to try to discount what a player has done.

Parsons and the Cowboys have created consistent pressure against everyone they faced. As a team they lead the league in sacks and pressures by a wide margin. That should continue this week. The only concern is maintaining discipline and keeping Fields contained.

I think the sacks aren't necessarily what's needed to beat the Bears. It's a combination of the pressures and our hopefully newfound ability to stuff the run that might push us over the top. Our defensive backfield is also quite capable of shutting down and/or at least, limiting a quite capable passing attack. Will Damone Clark possibly be available on 3rd downs to stuff runs that go wide to the sides? I'd love to see that. Pinch me if I'm dreaming!

Hopefully, Dak Prescott should, finally, enjoy one of his better passing days if he keeps his cool and delivers his passes quicker and on target. Kellen might be open to allowing his running attack to go wide more often, with Pollard and Davis available. I believe both have the speed and quickness to find success that way.

Hankins won't be able to help when Fields decides to improvise. He doesn't have the footspeed.

He does help when Justin hands the ball off. All we need from Johnathan is to consistently crash out two offensive lineman to the ground. Basically take them out of the play and clear the field and the vision for others to pursue.

The more he clears to field of vision and put trash on the ground right at the line of scrimmage the better it will be for us. LVE needs a DL who can collapse gaps and funnel the runner to him.

If he has to make a two way go with gaps he will be wrong at critical times of the game. Hankins job is to make it a one gap choice the Bears runner into the arms of a Cowboy LB or force the runner to bounce it outside and make it a sprint to the boundary.

Are they excellent pass protectors or is it more because they run often and Fields is elusive?

they are number one rushing team. our rush defense sucks. we are good rushing team, they run defense really sucks. Fields can't pass a lick. so if we can stop the run on early downs and force them into passing situations, we will have a good chance of dominating them.

The Cowboys have trouble against teams that have a run oriented offense. They stick to the run on 2nd and 8 or 3rd and 5+...; since Dallas usually will sub with pass rushers on those downs. Also QB that can run and that is one thing Fields does well, passing is not his strength right now. So DQ needs to have our defense ready for run, run, run and then run some more. Passes short and safe. Spy on Fields will be essential. This should be a sign if the Dallas defense is gonna be ready for Hurts and philthy next time they play.

such an odd thing for him to say. wonder if his league leading pressure rate is in garbage time (or against the bengals) as well. or if he's only held until garbage time

Not easy getting Justin Fields on the ground, he’s very slippery. He’s been the Bears leading rusher in at least a couple of games this season. We’re going to have to keep our eye on him.

How much you guys want to bet that they play like the best OL in football against us?

We are America's Team after all.

This is the Eagles game all over for us. Granted, the Bears have fewer offensive weapons, but that's about it.
