Bailey has hit 90.5% of his kicks in his three years with the Cowboys.

RHG loves Dan and I've heard him talk about how great he is several times. Bailey seems to be in a good position to demand a serious contract for a kicker.

On Gould from CBS:

"Gould is one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history, converting 86 percent of his attempts during his nine-year career, including 89.7 percent this season.

For an idea of just how good the former undrafted free agent out of Penn St. has been, consider this: He's never missed a field-goal attempt inside 30 yards (74 for 74), is 91 percent from 30-39 yards (78 for 86), and is converting at a 76.2 percent clip from beyond 50 yards (16 for 21). All while playing in the less-than-friendly environs of Soldier Field for eight games a year."

Bailey is younger and more accurate.

People have to realize that wage inflation has at every position as time goes by.

People are balking at contributing less than 3% of the cap for one of the very best players and a very young player at the kicker position?

Just dumb.

Depending on what's cooking with the salary cap in 2015, franchising Bailey is also an option. Kicker franchise pay is cheap in comparison to other positions.

It really depends how much it will take to keep Bailey, but I wouldn't expect Jerry to sign him for that kind of money. The philosophy under Jerry has always been to just get another young PK on the cheap. There's a few former Dallas kickers on NFL rosters right now.

I'm afraid I have to say, as a few others have, that while Bailey is excellent the truth is that most field goal kickers in the league are basically just as excellent. There has been a lot of behind the scenes discussion about narrowing the goalposts or doing something because it was never intended for a 40 yard field goal to be the gimme it is today. Now if they did something like that, perhaps then Bailey would distinguish himself. But as it is today, i can't see giving big bucks to a kicker.

Randy Bullock, who is 30th in field goal percentage, is 12-12 in kicks under 40 yards and a respectable 24-29 on all kicks under 50 yards. The reason he is 30th is because his coach has made him attempt a lot of 50+ yarders. 11 years ago there was only one kicker who made 90% of his kicks. Now there are 13. The bottom line is that pretty much every kicker in the league can kick accurate field goals from distance like nobody's business.

The NFL and it's parity policy has created a lot of one point games. A reliable kicker wins several games a year. There aren't many positions on the team that can be said for. Because Texas has no state income tax, Bailey could be signed for less and take home more. But, arglebargle's franchise suggestion is pretty good.

Need to find a way to keep him. How long and how many K's have we been through and waited and waited. Now we do have quite a few K's out there on other rosters doing decent, but Baily is money in the bank as to points on the board...and may be some of JJ's in his bank now. But need to keep him.

Wonder what the price tag would be if they used the franchise tag on him. Is he a UFA or a RFA? Not sure.

considering our kicker problems the last couple decades, if you can get a decent deal on Bailey you take that and run to the bank with it. You don't short change the kicker position!

Hold your noses.

I wouldn't resign Bailey. I want a complete rebuild and flushing of the salary cap. I'm not resigning a kicker to that kind of deal.

i would agree to this.Gould has been consistent for a long time.
