Has he truely learned how to block? If not, there's no place for him in Dallas. There are enough receiver types on the roster, unless one is looking for a true #2 wide receiver.

Martellus has always been one of the best blocking tight ends in the league. When he was here maturity was his issue, blocking never has been.

I never was really impressed back when...we'll see in the future.

It's still an issue which is why the Bears are trying to trade him. They want more commitment from him, but he doesn't give it.

The Cowboys almost exclusively used him to block in the double TE set. His run blocking was never questioned.

(so, he was the 'blocking' tight end back then, huh?)

He's now part of the passing games...we'll see how the blocking has held up. I'll wait until he further proves a complete package, myself...in the now.

Why is he being let go? At this point in a career...motivation?

He could have been a pass catching TE here, but you kind of get stifled when you have a first ballot Hall of Famer in front of you named Jason Witten. ...not to mention he has no dedication to his job. It's just a means to make money for him.

No argument there, and I hated his internet ramblings back then.

agree 100%.....he's a perennial underachiever. He has the all the physical measurements/abilities and skills to be a top tier TE but unfortunately, and as you mention, zero dedication to anything other than being a clown......correction......richer clown!

as an homage to the illustrious Cowboys history, I think they should trade a 2nd round pick to acquire his services

He was a great blocker in Dallas, but he was underused as recieveing threat.

Trade him to Venus. His brother can join him there, too.

It's going to be interesting to see what we do at TE this year. Hanna's going to want to test the market. Escobar had the nasty injury late. It's Wit, Swaim, and another pick somewhere along the line. People are going to be annoyed by that.

That was basically all he ever did. If his blocking wasn't good, it's hard to imagine what exactly the team got out of him.

Why would people be annoyed by a team that continually picks TEs in the draft while having no idea how to use them?

Good thing we got Swaim last year or we'd be struggling. All set now

I remember some talk of making him an offensive tackle at one point while he was here.
