They were overplaying the line of scrimmage and flooding the middle zones. Dak was hesitant to let it go, and when he did, he threw an ugly interception in the end zone.

Dak was confused, and he clearly doesn't feel as comfortable throwing wide from the pocket.

As I just posted, if Romo was back there and saw Dez in a one on one what would Romo have done? Dak has to be more accurate than he played last night but if you give me a situation where my #1 WR is being defended 1 on 1 you will go after that.

But throw it high for G's sake and not underthrown would be good too.

I agree. I'm not making any excuses Dak was not on target especially on his throws to Dez but again you see the matchup pre snap and Dez is getting one on one I think most QB will take that matchup. Dak throws needed to be better no question about it. However the kid hung in there and gave his team a chance to win and in the end did just that. I think most QB who can go out and have big games you expect a win but when a QB is off and yet manages to keep things together and win that is a harder task and for that I have Dak credit.

Agree. Dak looked confused most of the night with the blitzes and I was hoping they (coaches up stairs with the help of Romo) would be able to ID it and make adjustments a little sooner than late in the 4th. Also looked like Dez and Dak were not on the same page during the latter parts of the game when Phili was bringing everyone. That was frustrating.

He is a rookie going up against one if the best defenses in the NFL

There will be growing pains. He did better than I expected and we won the game.

I don't think Dak was seeing the field as well as he has the rest of the games this year. It certainly looked like Beasely and others were open like other games. All year, Dak has found these guys. Last night, I think Philly did a good job to make Dak feel uncomfortable and I think that helped make Dak not see the field very well.

All is good though, he won the game with two excellent drives late.

It is the nfl
Teams plan for your tendencies and you adjust

We did and won the game
The guy is a rookie people , a rookie

You figure if a vet like Aaron Rodgers can have off days then why would anyone expect Dak to be perfect every week. lol Not every day is a great day and on those days you have to fight and claw for everything you get and put the bad plays behind you so you can stay in the game mentally.

Not blaming Dak. Like I said, he needed strategic support given the situation. He did all he could and I'm very pleased with the win.

Agreed. But Linehan could have taken some of the pressure off by running more, especially on 1st down and redzone. Was apoplectic over that first INT and all the 3 and outs without one run being called.

More jet sweeps or bubble screens to keep pass rush honest would have helped too.

People were saying, well he has not been tested, let's see what he does when he is down and struggling

Well, he took the team on 2 long drives to tie and win the game

I'm good with that

I agree that the coaching staff could have called the game a little different
We always have a tough time with the Philly front 7 and it would have been nice to have planned a few screens and quick slot passes or bubble screens and sweeps

I don't disagree that we should have ran Zeke in that situation but that does not excuse Dak throwing the ball in there like he did. There was nothing open on the play and the ball should have been thrown out of the back of the endzone. Dak I think will learn from it but just because Dallas is running an empty backfield and throwing it does not mean you get to be careless with your throw.

He said the Philly defense were doing things they did not see on film, and they had to make adjustments and finally got some things figured out. Which is why Dez was able to make those plays later on, as well as Beasley too.
This makes a lot of sense.

The Eagles have a very, very good defense. And we still put up 29 points on them, even with Daks struggles. We should be pretty happy about that.

Exactly it is games like this that actually impress me more. Staubach did not perform all of his come backs because he played great ball all game long. There were many games that his play was not overly great but he stayed composed and would fight his way and do what he needed to do to win games. Dak was not on last night but he kept his head and did what he needed to do.

I don't think he was forcing it to Dez. I think Dez was the read, but Dak is still figuring out his timing and ball placement to Dez. Dez was open a lot, but Dak was off in a few cases and just didn't have enough time in others. Some of those were route options or site adjusts where they were just not on the same page. The square in that the defender sat on the route so Dez adjusted it deeper, is something Romo would likely have adjusted to. The endzone throws, the first should have been high and outside backshoulder, the second he under threw the fade. I think they will get most of that corrected in practice.

The Eagles were playing what looked like 9 guys in the middle of the field and constantly dropping and bringing different guys so the reads were on the outside and deep. They looked like they were trying to defend the first 10 yards and make him go over the top for his throws. Add that they were running stuff that Dak could not have prepared for, since it was not on film, it makes things tough for someone who is a rookie and has relied on studying and practicing against different looks and knowing what to expect. So he was confused and getting pressure. When he started to scramble a little it opened things up for him.

We didn't hear from Beasley in the first half, which is a tragedy. What is it attributed to? Forcing the ball to Dez? Did the Eagles scheme him out of the game?

I heard someone say that we substituted Swaim in for the Beas and that is why he was silent in the first half? Can anyone weigh in on this?
He was not in a lot of the 1st half. Either 11 personnel with big receivers or double TE

That is interesting but how does Swartz take away Beasley, Witten AND TWill for 3 quarters?

They weren't taken away, rather we were put in very tough and obvious passing situations. The Eagles sat on routes for the first three quarters and we were highly ineffective.
