Our young WRs are coming to play and the future looks bright for the position group.

Don't be so quick to throw Miles in the woodpile though cause of his diversified skill set. In this passing league, you really need some weapons out there, and it looks like we are developing quite a few. That deal for TWill is looking better every single day.

It's not that I want Miles off the team, I just don't want him in front of Williams or Beasley anymore.

That blows my mind. I could tell they were doing a great job, but I would not have guessed this. Beasely reminds me of Golden Richards. Remember last year during training camp he nearly quit football altogether. So glad he stuck around.

Well I would want Miles to take a paycut or leave after the season, but for right now, he makes a good option if healthy cause you can never have too many weapons in this game.

It really is a luxury to have the weapons we have on this team, including the TEs, and I'm not willing to just let them walk away.....including Miles. If we lose Miles, even though it will be wildly unpopular, you might see another WR brought in come draft time.

Beasely reminds me of Golden Richards.

Cole reminds me of Cole. I can't think of any receiver like him. Not only is he short but he's small framed. His game is 100% predicated on quickness and precision.

No size and without elite straight-line speed...he's really an amazing story.

Beasley, Williams Rank 1-2 Among NFL WRs For This Stat

IRVING, Texas
– There’s an old adage that gets tossed around a lot when talking about wide receivers. The ones with good hands get described as players who “catch everything that is thrown their way.”

For Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams, they’re taking that to another level.

In fact, through six games of the season, Beasley and Williams are the two best wide receivers in the NFL in terms of catching passes when targeted.

Among players with at least 10 targets this year, Beasley has the highest reception percentage among NFL wide receivers at 92.3 percent. He’s caught 12 of the 13 passes thrown in his direction. His only miss occurred in last week’s win over Washington whenTony Romo led him too far on a sideline route, although Beasley nearly hauled it in with one hand. He also caught a pass thrown behind him where he trapped it against his leg to make the catch.

He reminds me of Golden Richards because Richards, like Beasley, was an underdog success story. He was a smaller guy not expected to make much of an impact who made a big splash.

Williams looks like the perfect #2 to Dez. Beasley is rounding into the prototypical quick slot chain-mover. If this team could EVER find a consistent run game, they'd easily be a top 5 offense.

Dez and Williams are the future. Austin is gone. Harris and Beasley are slot guys. We will need to find a backup WR with size to groom at the bottom of the depth chart.

The numbers I'm looking at only show 37 targets and 2 INTs for Beasley, where you've got 38 and 3. If the the 3rd INT was last year, then the 2013 passer rating for Beasley is 128.8; if it was this year, it's 96.8. I'll take it either way. Of course, given the way they use him (exclusively short stuff), he has to maintain a very high catch rate to be valuable.

I can see the underdog comparison. They do also look a little alike. But Richards was 6'1" and played in an era where guys were a little smaller on average.

I agree...the only comparison is that they are both white dudes. Golden Richards was one of my favorites.

But, that little runt Cole Beasley can flat out ball.

Forty times:

Cole Beasley 4.49

Danny Amendola 4.68

Wes Welker 4.65

Welker was built like a RB (which he was in HS in OK) with a low center of gravity ability to break tackles and elite quickness.
Amendola was his college roommate and learned to run routes working with Welker so has great technical precision.
Welker was a better player after catching the ball and Amendola excelled at sitting down in zones coverage holes.
Beasley in college was quicker and faster than most of his opposition.

Beasley also has elite short area quickness and balance like Welker but lacks the power to break tackles.
He was a HS QB in the area and a big-time playmaker. Tough as nails. But very small.
Not even average size for HS standards. But he bounces up and goes an makes another play.
Shocking he can succeed as he has at the NFL level at his size.

But his point about lack of elite speed is true. right at 4.5 40 time is not elite. Not when you are really about 5'8" and 165.

I can talk about these guys all day because I've seen the majority of their careers up close.

There is a lot of traffic involved in his targets. The 3 INT on his targets all came at home against the Commanders -- two last year and one in last week's game.

2012 15 of 24 128 yd 0 td 2 int 41.7
2013 12 of 14 144 yd 1 td 1 int 94.6

I'm ecstatic about Beasley. He's what I call a chain mover. Sure he's not as fast as Deion was, but he is very quick. Put him on a Safety or a LB and he'll win that battle 9/10 times and give us a fresh set of downs. This is especially true with all the attention Dez and Witten get. Even TWill is drawing attention now. Beasley's quickness + Romo's escapability is hard to cover for defenses. Anytime a play breaks down I could easily see Romo improvising, then Beasley using his quickness to run into spots where Romo can see him. Easy pitch and catch. 1st down, Cowboys.
