I'll give you a classic example of fans who I have no time for:

Toronto Maple Leafs fans. Year after pitiful year, they sell out the Air Canada Centre (presumably because they are 'real fans' who think the Leafs will go all the way.)

What message does this send to the Leafs inept management? It tells them that mediocrity is ok as there is no pressure to take the drastic steps needed to improve (of course the T.O. media provides plenty of pressure, but nothing beats empty seats or heavy booing when it comes to letting management know how you really feel.)

I was as passionate about the Cowboys in 1989 as I've ever been. I got behind James Dixon, Paul Palmer and the rest of the scrubs we fielded. But I didn't kid myself by thinking that they would go all the way. I was realistic, as I've always been with the Boys. But that didn't make me any less passionate.

There is a big difference between saying that it's unlikely to get a win, and saying that there is 'zero' chance. One is realistic, the other is pathetic.

Passion aside....I just don't like *******.

I frickin hate all you guys who say we are going to get blown out every single game. I dont care what everyone says, you guys are not real fans of the Dallas Cowboys.

Real fans, are optimistic 100% of the time and NEVER expect to get blown out.

Exactly!!!!

:hammer: sounds like they need a dose of optimism from Crazy Cowboy.

Agree with the first part, but I think real fans should also have a healthy level of skepticism about their team.

some of the skepticism seems so twisted sometimes.i mean, the team is trying to find its identity, and work through a VERY hard time with key losses of vital players. the goal is to get better each week, and I believe they're trying to improve, yesterday showed that.to think we'll get blown away every week is just crazy.

No doubt, and some of the comments after losses are ridiculous (ie. over-the-top criticism of Romo.) But if something doesn't look right, I see no problem with fans pointing this out. For example, by the end of 1997, I was extremely skeptical of our chances of winning with Switzer as coach.
