On the leaked draft board we ended up with 5 of the top 50 on our draft board:
Frederick (2, 22)
Williams (2, 23 or 24)
Escobar (2, 24 or 25)
BW Webb (3, 45 or 46)
JJ Wilcox (3, 47)
J Randle (3, 67)
B Magee (4, ?)
J Hamilton (4, ?)
D Holloman (5, 146?)
It turned out a few times we made a departure from the draft board but the biggest by far was picking Holloman when there were players still on the board ranked at the bottom of the 3rd round (DC Jefferson, TE) but we apparently tried to trade back into the 7th to grab him but couldn't. This was likely a need pick based on Kiffen's complaints of not having any LBs but no room to sit in the DL meetings. We likely passed over Magee who was ranked a round earlier than Magee because we felt Magee would go undrafted due to concerns about size, non-elite speed and baseball possibilities.
No one knows how upset the Cowboys are about the board getting leaked. The leak was basically from guys piecing together the board which was in the background shots of some HD video shot of Jerry Jones doing interviews during the draft without the board covered up. Broaddus seemed to be quite concerned about this happening as could be damaging to the Cowboys scouts to have this information out there fully in the public's eye. I'm not really sure its relevance other than to draftniks as the draft is done but that's the backdrop.
The other info that has come out is Matt Johnson is getting a fair number of reaps as the #1 FS besides Barry Church who seems firmly entrenched as the #1 SS and is apparently moving very well after his Achilles surgery. Johnson said his hamstrings are fine and thinks he injured them from lifting too heavy last year in prep for the NFL - apparently was squatting 565 pounds. He has now changed training habits and got through both OTAs without issue. Otherwise JJ Wilcox has a long ways to go but appears to be picking up things pretty well and has continued with his physical style of play. We haven't heard a lot about Hamilton or Will Allen.
The backup RBs have gotten a lot of work with Murray out for hamstring issues and Randle out with the thumb injury. Dunbar has looked really good and seems a near lock for the #3 RB and third down RB. Tanner looking a lot better and quicker this year but may have a hard time making the roster unless they keep 4 RBs. Kendal Lawrence looks like he is a candidate for the PS this year but not ready to threaten Dunbar this year.
Spencer has looked great but they have held Ware out of the OTAs. Apparently Wilber has bulked up to about 255 pounds and has looked fairly good out there. Hargrove is likely to split time between DT and DE.
Livings was pulled out of the first OTA and was sent for an MRI. Allegedly the injury is minor but we don't know much about it. Bernadeau isn't participating as he is still rehabbing his shoulder after offseason surgery but is expected to be ready for TC. I think Free and Parnell are splitting snaps at RT. With Bernadeau and Livings out Arkin, Leary and Kowalski have been getting lots of reps at OG and Costa has been the #2 Center. Apparently Leary and Kowalski have been looking very good while Arkin has been getting "compressed" according to Broaddus which apparenlty means he is still getting pushed around out there.
At LB right now Lee and Carter are looking great. The new LB who has impressed the most is the UDFA Reed but Magee and Holloman are out there taking reps, too. Right now it looks like Durant is slated as the #1 Sam right now.
At CB, Carr has apparently been struggling a bit with the new scheme. Claiborne has bulked up by about 7 pounds and apparenlty looks very good and OScan has apparently looked the best.
At QB some seem to think Orton has gotten off to a slow start. None of the other guys are setting the world on fire.
