Don't discount the last drive by kneeling down and we got 0 PTS. Don't discount Dez missing a pass he should of caught which would have led to minimal 3 pts but maybe a TD. Don't dismiss Dez torched their DB and would have been an easy 60 yard TD but Dak never saw him. IF, IF, IF. They lost were dominated on the field were it counts, and we were 2 scores up on them most of the game. Stats are nice but WINS are better. This game was never really close to what that score indicates.

The conversation was about the defense.

And what narrative might that be? One where I have repeatedly praised the team for winning, but am open enough to recognize a problem spot on the team?

I have yet to see you make an actual football point in any post of yours. Literally, all that you do is complain about others posts when they aren't 100% positive about the team. When you tried, you couldn't remember that the Cowboys were trailing the Steelers going down to :09 on the game clock.
They ran moved like 50 yards on two completions in those 9 seconds though.

Well yes. At the end of the game the defense was asked to protect a two touchdown lead with just a few minutes on the clock.

If the defense was anything north of absolutely abysmal all game that wouldn't have been necessary as we would have won going away.

Historically teams win 50 percent of their 1 score games... That's not team specific... And individual team's and coaches have all regressed in time to this 50/50 ratio. We're skating by at the moment but need to be putting teams away.

This defense is preventing that from happening.

Let us pray.
I will be at the altar with you in a couple of weeks when we play the Giants.

Yes, it increased Roethlisberger's QB rating from 122.7 to 125.4, while the Steelers had a chance (albeit very small) to potentially win the game with a touchdown on the final play.

Damn stat padding.

The game plan with our limited defense was working fine until we lost Mo and Church. Go back and look.

The first 8 games, nobody ever ran away from us. We got nipped by 1 point in the opener by the Giants. The goal is to rack up points on offense and just have the defense be average and keep the other team's scoring down to a RESPECTABLE level.

Until we lost MoC and Church, here's the other's team scoring over the first 8 games of the season:

20
23
17
17
14
16
23
10

What happened then is an injured secondary then started catching up with us. We played the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

30

That was followed by a home game vs the Ravens, who were tough & brought their #1 defense with them.

17

And then the NFL's #1 offense came to town, bringing it's #2 passing game into AT&T stadium.

26

The game plan is score early and often and stay ahead while the defense holds serve just enough to keep the other team behind until the clock runs out.

Which is exactly what happened yesterday. Even with the 20 points the Commanders scored in the 4th quarter, they NEVER got the lead in this game and were forced into desperate onside kicks. They were too far behind and our offense kept scoring.

This has been the game plan all season long. It's the hand we were dealt after the draft and FA and then suspensions led to no real pass rush. It's too late to cry about it, the season is underway and the coaches MUST find a way to make it work with what they've got.

Guess what? They're doing it.

They're making it work.

We're 10-1 with no pass rush for a reason. All we need now is to get some guys back healthy in this secondary and get back to mid-season form back there.

I just watched the postgame presser with Gruden and then Garrett on the television and cannot find a link yet to provide. Jason Garrett states that the defense played like he wanted other than the long ball to Desean Jackson in the 4th quarter and that this was not about the yards or sacks but winning the game. The boys had to shut down the run game and keep the passing game underneath was his point. This was a great win.

Had they not given up that TD too Jackson score would have been 31 19
