Let us take a long hard look at Parsons and Digs in 2023.
Yes, both are great athletes.
But 2022 was not the stellar year for both they hoped.
Some would say Diggs regressed with his ball-hawking ways and "business decisions."
Others would say Parsons seemed dejected, frustrated that teams had figured him out, double dreamed him and made Parsons an OK edge and an OK LB instead of the great, versatile player he was in 2021.
Thus, here is hoping Micah and Diggs revisit their greatness of 2021 and get a hefty bump in any extension or new contracts.

But Jiminey!
Base their rewards on what they do in 2023, not from the standpoint of 2021.

Diggs became a better corner last year. It’s not your money. Jerry is going to re-sign them both. You don’t let them go in their prime. At the end of the day you have a great unit because do them just like because of Zeke and Dak at one point

Micah Parsons has played in the NFL two seasons and has accomplished:

2x NFL DPOY Runner Up
2x First Team All-Pro
2x Probowler
AP ROY
AP DROY
26.5 sacks (in a part time pass rusher role)
106 Tackles
6 forced fumbles

Total JAG so far. This is the type of player you avoid resigning at all costs.

In this scenario, whoever plays the role of Zeke, and runs off to Cabo can kiss my *** come to think of it, Jerry was the one who paid these guys, so he can kiss my *** too

Don't be fooled by past laurels.
See what Micah is like in 2023 before surrendering ti kingdom to Parsons, who'd jump to his Philly home in a heartbeat if he could.
If he is stellar in 2023, sure, lets be glad he gets his reward. If not, pay him commensurate to his 2023 profile.

That's right. Take a wait-and-see position on rewarding Micah and Diggs and turn it into an awkward, sarcastic, junior high stand.
Sigh.
Your sarcasm needs a lot of refinement.
Work on it, lad. Be better than tha.

Is releasing Zeke ruining our roster? Or trading Cooper?
Fair point but Zeke’s deal was almost done. And we had to hold on to him at least a year longer than we should have because of cap implications.

Amari had an out year in his contract and renegotiated with the Browns so that point isn’t really relevant.

If Stephen can get creative with Diggs contract so we can get out after a couple years with minimal cap hit I’m game. Otherwise screw that, Diggs could bust hard after getting paid.

All I am pointing out is the sheer ridiculousness of calling a player "OK" when he has had a generational start to his career.

I am not commenting on how and when the Cowboys should deal with his contract. I for one agree with you when it comes to Diggs. I would have tried to trade him this offseason.

Lighten up man.

The Cowboys need to expand Parson's role in the defense. He can't just be a designated pass rusher. He has too much talent in other areas. Anyway, a few more seasons of being double teamed by a pair of 300 pounders is going to shorten his career.

Parson's value would be increased if they put him back at LB and allow him to do other things. Just his being on the field is a threat enough to that offensive line and it allows others to sneak in there. Besides, he can always blitz from a LB position. The defense would be far more effective if the offense couldn't pin Parsons down.

I guess one of the most insidious ways to stay away from expensive 2nd contracts would be to run them into the ground their first 3-6 seasons and then toss them away. I just don't know if any personnel dept.is so good that they can constantly refill the roster while maintaining top level talent.

If the Cowboys don't find a better way to use Parsons then he's going to fade fast around the time he signs that second contract.

One of the best things the Cowboys could do for Parsons would be to cover him up with a strong interior line.

The NFL needs to change the cap rules. Teams that draft successfully are having that advantage taken away by salary constraints. in the end, it doesn't matter if your scouting department is successful, As soon as those players reach their peak, they can't afford to keep some and so another team can grab them. The so-called "compensatory" picks are not an equitable exchange.

I wish they would change the rules and make signing your own players different from signing others. If a team resigns their own players then a certain percentage does not count against the cap.

This isn't even an option. They can't extend him before he plays 2023.

Complete Bozo comment.

Parsons was 2nd in DPOY voting in 2022 behind Nick Bosa after finishing 2nd in 2021 behind TJ Watt.

OK by his standards because the man seemed frustrated in his sopfomore season when thwarted.
