Behind DeMarcus Ware, can Darrell Robertson be our best PASSRUSHER?

If Justin Rogers doesn't improve, as far as I'm concerned they can have his spot. Also, how did we keep Oglesby on the roster for so long and get nothing?

Its going to be interesting to see if Spencer can unseat Ellis.

Spencer is younger, more athletic, quicker/faster....the kind of LBer Wade seemingly prefers.

Yet Ellis has the pass rush moves....which Wade also covets.

Should be an interesting battle.

Spencer is the real deal, he'll have a big year in 2008.

Yup....I say he will start half-way through the season and 8-10 sacks is not out of the question.

The thing I continue to worry about Ellis is how much are we giving up in coverage with him when he is not rushing the passer. I really hope this year Spencer plays more in the base defense so Ellis can be fresher to rush the passer in the nickel.

What have you seen that makes you think that Spencer is not as much of liability in coverage?

Spencer is better than Ellis against the run IMO, but needs to work on reading his keys better and developing more pass rush moves.

I was saying that Ellis is not very good in coverage because he lacks speed and change of direction skills.

Spencer was just a bit raw last year since he played in college as a standup DE. He should make a big advance this year now that he has had more time to learn the role of SOLB. He clearly is much more athletic than Ellis who is facing a horrible mismatch if he ever gets locked on a RB or TE.

Passrush is clearly in favour of Ellis. Spencer may yet approach Ellis' numbers but probably not next year.

I like Spencer, but I don't understand the need to throw him into the starting lineup when we already have a guy at that position coming off a 12 sack year. Why would we bench Ellis when he's coming off his best year?

I think Ellis would benefit from some extra rest so he is fresh for the nickel and playing his more customary position at LDE.

Meanwhile, we can use Spencer more in the base defense so he can do some slugging against the OL in the running game, drop back in coverage and occasionally blitz. He is going to be our future at OLB so I think the transition should start this year.

Wade had packages last year, that im sure he will expand on this year, that got Ellis, Ware, and Spencer all out on the field at the same time on passing situations.

Spencer looked pretty good for a rook last year.

Agreed, someday soon, him and Ware are going to be the stuff nightmares are made of for opposing QBs...can't wait for that point.
