He got tackled to the ground and the ball came out. Not a fumble. But I do think dez had a catch but that doesn't mean dallas wouldve won. But by rule dez didnt catch it ***??

Per Mike Carey (CBS' refereeing counterpart to Perriera), the same rules apply to receiving a punt and a pass.

Interesting. According to the RULEZ that Pereira, Blandino, etc seem to tout so much, I would think that would not be a completed catch, the punt returner had touched the ball, and the ball is now free, which would be a fumble. Are they arguing that Cribbs made a football move?

I guess a 4th step matters? Who knows. BUT, in the process, Dez slams the ball down and it comes out when it hits the ground... THAT fits the rule as its been explained. It was called a touchdown. After review, they said he was down short of the goalline because he touchd the ground after being contacted. What "complete" means in "complete the process" is ambiguous. Is it 3 steps? is it 4? Is it 2 knees and an elbow? Is it a buttcheek? How much is enough to say "oh ok, catch"

at the 2:39 mark

He was hit and knocked to the ground. His knee touches and subsequent to being knocked almost unconscious, Cribbs loses the ball. It's ruled no fumble, and that was the right call.

Rules are ruining the game of football. Why does it take a committee to rule a catch and to determine what is not a catch? Isn't that why we have refs to see if its a catch and not overturn calls when there is inconclusive evidence to prove it otherwise?

Rules are made to be broken. In this case they are arguing over nothing because that was a catch by Bryant pure and simple. Rules doesn't need to be applied unless they pertain to the game of football.

Maybe it is me still being grumpy over the loss but I know I can't be the only one who is already tired of the catch/noncatch refs decision threads.

I agree however, it was ruled a fumble on the field, but overturned upon review. Mr Blandino..... ?

It's not the only reason for sure, but it's one reason why our season is over. It's only been a day since it ended so I don't think it's too much discussion at this point

Yeah, when I saw this, I sure didn't look like consistency in rule interpretation to me.

I'm SO over it man. Tired of seeing the play. It changes nothing and only makes me angrier. In no way should they have ruled that an incompletion, but I digress..

Yes, this is what I was trying to say yesterday. Cribs did not make a football move, therefor the football did not advance yardage once he made contact with it. So Dez made contact with the ball at the 4 yard line and the ball ended up at the half yard line. If a FOOTBALL MOVE does not happen such as the Cribs play then how did the FOOTBALL make it to the goal line. Was it a magic football that could move on its own. Was this a helium football that floated to the goal line. Nope Nope Nope
