Good post. 'Othering' is an underlying issue with all communication. People label someone else as the other. Other = bad. Homer and hater are just two of many examples.

It is a practice that has been with humanity for a long time. I think it is so prevalent in present day because of all the different forms of communication, especially social media, and the exploitation of anonymity. I have been as guilty of it as the next person. An individual's task is acknowledging the practice and voluntarily addressing it. Truthfully, it is easier thing for some to do than others (no pun intended).

We are all guilty of it to some extent, and why we should also look to give each other some grace.

It’s the extreme examples like the creator of the thread who make their entire identity about being on one side while acting as if they’re called on my god himself to take down the other side. That creates nothing but fighting and divisiveness.

Disagreements are good and healthy. Being on a mission to out and belittle those you disagree with isn’t. Thats the behavior that truly needs called out instead of people who are simply on the other side.

Quit being a whining type all the time *****ing about this player, or that coach or the owner or Rowdy, etc. etc. etc. and you’ll end up whining and *****ing all the time like you currently do. Then come here and try to justify you behavior. It doesn’t make you look better, it makes you look the opposite.

This very forum has played no small role in whatever growth, if any, I've achieved.

20 years of consistent interaction in a fairly consistent dynamic on which to reflect on and introspect on. Plenty of examples of both the good and the bad to learn from. I've certainly been part of the problem over those two decades.

Would you rather teach your children not to accept things as they are and voice an opinion on things...or accept what others are telling you and have no voice themselves? To teach others to be positive is indeed a standard to behold, but to tell others they are "haters", or "negative", because, due to history, they question the possible outcomes is being closed-minded...and does not teach them to accept the opinions of others. There is no debating this......yet, here we are for the 1,000,000 time

I think we’ve had some very good discussions on here and even when we disagree it’s been cordial and informative back and forth.
