On the day the Cowboys drafted DeMarcus Ware No. 11 overall in 2005, then-coach Bill Parcells told ESPN's Ed Werder that Ware reminded him of former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor. Five years later, Parcells' former defensive coordinator with those Giants teams, Bill Belichick, thinks his old boss was right.

Asked whether committing so much money to Ware would be a hindrance for the Cowboys, Belichick had this to say:
I can't imagine DeMarcus Ware hindering any team's defense," Belichick said during his daily press conference with New England reporters. "The guy's one of the best players in the league. It's like when we had Lawrence Taylor with the Giants. That guy was a force on every play. The offense had to account for him on every play. I think he helped our team defense probably as much as any player I ever coached."

Pretty heady stuff from a guy who's not normally full of compliments.

And I can't imagine two different guy personality-wise either.

Like it said, for Belichick to give a compliment, wow!

Though far to early in Ware' career for this comparison.

When it is all said and done, Ware will be better than LT. There, I said it. :D

I would like that to be true someday but can't imagine it so. LT changed the LB position. Ware is a very good LB, best defensive player in the league quite possibly, but he isn't changing or evolving the LB position to a "new" level. Just my .02:starspin:starspin:starspin:starspin:starspin

Wasn't that quote almost identical to something said last year?

Either way nice to see/hear/read but I swear I read a quote almost word for word of that last year or maybe early offseason this year.

Those are some lofty goals. I think LT was the greatest, most dominant defensive football player to ever play in the NFL. Yes, more dominant than Deacon Jones.

We'll see, Ware had his breakout year last season, there are many more yet to come. How many LBs, ever, were as good rushing the passer, playing in coverage and stopping the run?

Ware is also on another mult sack streak, playing on a broken foot. That is how legends are made.

So Bill Belichick isn't allowed to make those type of comparisons because Ware hasn't been a part of a team that's won a play off game?

Are you delusional?

Twitter with Google wave is going to pwn in the near future! ;)

You're probably right, but damn I hope not. I hate the basic premise of Twitter, and the attention ****** who use it.

I even hate the word "twitter."

I am a grumpy old man.

I agree 100% though I agree also with what was mentioned on the NFL Network, Dick Butkus #1 and LT #2 as far as greatest LB' of all time.

Dude, shut up. We get it already. You're 21 and have never seen a playoff victory. For crying out loud. Do you have to make that asinine comment in every thread where a Cowboys player gets praised by someone?

Why would anyone 'get back to you'? You're irrelevant to this discussion and obviously incapable of grasping the most simple of concepts. Dismissed.
