It's possible that he wanted to fire him but Jerry said it's not in the budget to pay two coordinators to sit on the couch at the same time.

You really are going in on the Jerry doesn't want to pay guys that aren't working. I mean, it could be a consideration, but I doubt it is a priority. Paying a few million for a year for guys that aren't working when your budget for the team is probably $500m a year is a drop in the proverbial bucket.
