I would like to see the Cowboys trade down with the first round pick. Although they can probably get a starter out of the first rounder from this year, I would like to see them trade down a few spots and then trade out of the first entirely with a second trade.

The players that we are probably going to need to fill our existing holes are probably not going to be worth the value of the pick we currently have (the only caveat is possibly OLB).

If we could load up on picks, we could get into the Adrian Peterson sweepstakes next year. If he stays healthy he could be a true franchise back and would be worth trading up for.

There are 3-4 quality starting OLBs. It is very possible that all will be gone in the first round.

I'm not a fan of trading down? For what? A lesser player and then a low round pick?

Stay at 18 and take the BPA. We need a stud first rounder, not some ST'er in the 4th or 5th round.

Replace OLB with BPA and you're dead on.:

I'm also in favor of trading down, but it has to be for good value, and as always it's usually difficult to find a dance partner. Certain teams like to trade up, but the happen to be division foes and unlikely partners.

By trading down, we get a first rounder next year, a second rounder this year and a day 2 pick this year. (This would compensate us for moving out of the first round) Ideally we would drop two or three spots and get a pick before we moved out of the first round.

If a QB falls to us at our pick, there will be value in trading down, and it could be significant. (Mr. subliminal whispers J.P. Losman) LOL

This is one season I would not mind seeing Dallas trade down. I think some of the top LB and OL will be sitting there late 1st and 2nd. A guy like OT Scott will be there and Carpenter should be as well.

Julius is serviceable, but he is not in the same league as Peterson.

That sounds really cute, but I have a feeling NO team is going to offer us the Buffalo trade from 2 years ago.

I'm not sure who might be available when we pick, but it seems as though we could easily fill our free safety need in round 2. Other than at OLB or possibly safety, I dont see us drafting a player with the first round pick, that would start for us on opening day. I think that is a must with a first rounder.

Trading down lets us fill our need at free safety and possibly outside linebacker with two picks in the second round, and gives us two first rounders next year, plus some lower picks. By doing that we maximize our value out of our current placement.

I am not opposed to picking a player at #18 that we covet that falls to us, but a lot of players who might fall to us would not start this year.

I don't disagree however I would not be suprised to see Dallas take a guy like Scott in the 2nd rd of this draft and LB with the 1st pick. As for safety I think Dallas will address it but I don't think it is going to be as high of a pick as some are predicting.

If a Quarterback falls to us, there should bbe teams wanting to move up and get one. If memory serves me, last year Washington traded up for Campbell. I will agree that there is a certain amout of luck involved in the draft, but it is not that far fetched that a QB with a first round grade is available at #18, or maybe even a few spots lower than that.

Our "needs" are not so great this year.....we have more flexibility than we have had in the past. I have a gut feeling that if we stay pat, and no player drops to us, that we have a very high probability of taking an outside linebacker at #18.

Could be, I just have a feeling that we will see Dallas trade out of the 18th spot this year and be able to address OT and LB with our 1st 2 picks. However as I said before I think there are a lot of options for the Cowboys this year. It should be interesting

Does anybody have a link to the trade value chart? What team has picks worth trading for? Anybody have 2 high seconds?

I would be in favor of us trading down in order to pick up an additional pick, or possibly pick(s) because I think we can trade down and still pick up a quality LB or OL. The question is whether or not we'll be able to find someone who wants to trade up into our 18th spot though.
