How is that idea working out so far? The previously winless Cardinals ran it down our throats for over 220 yards. Where were those LB replacement Safeties?

Same as last year. This is such a repeat. Remember we were killing them with our pass rush, then we started getting gutted in the run game. Then we once again had to play disciplined run assignments and we stopped getting gouged. The problem was we weren't nearly as lethal with the passrush.

That's the most discouraging thing for me. I thought this defense had taken a step forward, but this is too similar. Run defense will improve, but at the expense of our passrush. The defense overall will be good, but not the dominant one we saw the first 2 weeks.

Agreed.

This is what happens when we don't have bigger size/stronger strength but with equal speed/quickness at DE/Edge Rusher as we have in Micah Parsons. Micah is all speed/pass rusher but is terrible against the run to his side.

Sam Williams is bigger/stronger with adequate speed (4.46 40 time), but his head seems to be off. He could be an excellent fix, but he's mentally handicapped. If the Cowboys could draft another big/strong Edge Rusher who has the strength and stamina to contain any rush coming his way while having the speed and quickness to consistently attack and get to the QB during the pass, we would be golden.

Does our FO think about what it's doing before it does it?

We are super thin at O-line and now we've created a possible crisis at LB. There's a very real possibility that LVE doesn't finish out the season.
Yes they do. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Leighton Vander Esch
Malik Jefferson
Damone Clark
Markquese Bell
Micah Parsons
A lot of fans don't consider the callups when looking at the roster. Harper's role was as a special-teammer (reserve LB). Jefferson will now take that role, but he'll do it from the PS. Unless we add another LB to the PS, then we'll sign Jefferson to the 53 after we have expended his callups, if another player goes on IR.

We cut Harper because we wanted to keep Hoffman after his call-ups were expended and didn't have anyone we wanted to IR.

So two LBs left on the roster?
Yeah, those three total snaps he took in garbage time on defense. That is highly relevant to our LB situation.

Thank you for pointing that out.

Malik Jefferson is pretty much a stud athlete. Would be nice if he had the instincts and could play, too.

I expect them to fully eliminate the LB's from the roster at some point. :muttley:

DQ is using the safeties to shoot gaps over LBs since they're faster. It's definitely unique to what standard NFL defenses do but I think he's on to something.
