Bengals wide receiver cleared

The state of Kentucky has cleared Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry and his lawyer is now demanding an apology.

On Monday, the Kenton County Attoney's office quickly backed off a public announcement that Henry had failed a drug test that would've led to 88 days in jail and may have ended his NFL career.

This morning, the state of Kentucky released this statement: This information did not come from the state Division of Probation & Parole. Repeated referrals to our office by the Kenton County Attorney's office were wrong. The Kenton County Attorney's Office has no jurisdiction in our probation supervision of Henry. Our office did, however, receive results of a drug test conducted on Henry today, and those results were negative.

Finally, a bit of good news for what has become the most notorious locker room in the league.

Why is Goodell playing with fire? He didn't take any action on this latest incident until he has all the facts. Now he has the facts and won't take any further action. Henry's current suspension is based on a variety of activities which involve numerous run-ins with the law over a period of little more then a year. His activities are an embarrassment and the NFL as the employer of these players has a right to take action action players like Henry. What's more if Goodell and the NFL failued to take action on activities which have doubled over the last year, you better believe the NFL will suffer grave damage and eventually Congress will try to step in.

Some of you need a reality check if you think Goodell is in trouble. Either that or you really don't understand how the free market/capitalism works in this country. No employer, and that includes McDonalds, etc., can afford to keep any employee who continues to have run-ins with the law on a variety of illegal activities when those activities involve their being publicly identified as a McDonalds' employee. etc. If you got have repeatedy run-ins with the law but your employer is never identified, then you don't have to worry cause your employer probably won't take any action against you--unless your activities are henous.

Despite all your bluster Goodell is about to be sued on a case has a very good chance to win on merit. But that it was you fail to realize that this matter is going to be litigated. That would be the legal realm not the economic.

And if you honestly think that this economy is remotely free market especially when it comes to the scale of a business the size of the NFL you are kiddng yourself.
